Predominately white sports socks must be worn with walk shorts on the course. Leathersandals with or without socks may be worn in the <strong>Club</strong>house.<strong>Golf</strong> Shoes On Course : Soft spikes only.Buggies On Greens It is permissible to take buggy’s(slix wheels) across a green and, if this is doneplayers should not go near the hole and are particularly requested to spread the wear on greens byavoiding the most common or shortest route across the particular green, and also to avoid wearingtracks around the edges of the green and bunkers. Members are also requested to avoid using thesame route across the greens. Under no circumstances should buggies be left on greens while puttingor be taken across or left on tees.Use of <strong>Golf</strong> Carts in Competitions<strong>Golf</strong> Carts can be used in all Events conducted by the <strong>Shepparton</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Club</strong>All hire carts will be used in accordance with the hiring contract from the Pro Shop. PrivateCarts (see below)The SGC Professional reserves the right to cancel use of the cart on the course for misuseThe SGC Head Curator (or his delegate) reserves the right to cancel use of all carts (bothprivate and hire) due to inclement weather. This decision may be made in conjunction with the<strong>Club</strong> Captain and the SGC ProfessionalEvents conducted by external bodies such as the GVDGA, GVLGA, VGA, PGA etc will follow therules regarding cart use as stated by that body conducting their event at SGC.7


<strong>Golf</strong> Carts- Requirements of the SGC*Current medical certificate, stating precise reason for needing a cart, is required.*Current liability insurance. Proof supplied annually to the <strong>Club</strong> 1 st October. The operator isresponsible for operating the cart in a safe and careful manner and is liable for damage to persons orproperty caused by operator’s negligence.*Cart be maintained in sound condition.*Committee reserves the right to limit the occasions and competitions in which motorized vehicles maybe used. Advice will be communicated through the golf centre on a daily basis.*Committee retains the authority to cancel any member’s licence if it feels there is improper use.*Private carts are for exclusive use by the owner only. ie. NO lending of carts.*Upon sale of the cart, the rights for storage does not go with the sale.Playing Rights-ALL PLAYERS MUST REPORT TO THE PRO SHOP PRIOR TO PLAYING-Members are reminded that their rights to play on the course are not restricted, except for the dayslisted in this <strong>program</strong>me as Öpen” or GVDGA, GVLGA events, Charity or Trade Days.Lady Members – On every Wednesday from 1 st March to 31 st October, Lady members have prior rightson all tees from 8.30am to 2.00 pm or until later to allow the competition to proceed and from 1 stNovember to 28 th February rights from 7.00 a.m. until competition is completed.Summer Members - Playing rights on the course are restricted to the months of October to Marchinclusive, however, they are entitled to use the <strong>Club</strong>house facilities throughout the year.Conduct of Competitions and Conditions of Entry1. All competitors must be available for starting five minutes before the appointed time.2. Twelve players required before trophy can be played for.3. Place card in the result box without undue delay at completion of round.4. During summer months (9 hole event excepted) competitors must complete round and lodgecards by 6.00 pm5. Summer members are eligible for all events during months they are permitted to play on thecourse.6. Visitors MAY at the discretion of the match Committee play in club Events on payment ofrequired fees. During the months of April to October inclusive, visitors are to hit off prior to9.00 am and Members’ Guests may play in the afternoon field if there is a vacancy after 7.30pm on the Friday evening prior to the event, and are eligible to win the days event exceptmonthly medal and honour board events, on producing membership and handicap details.7. Unfinancial members are not eligible for competition from 1 st December, 2012.8. Grades: 0-59 players – 1 Grade; 60 to 99 players – 2 grades; 100 + players – 3 grades8


Entry FeesThe following will apply:1. Saturday - $8 per player, $16 per pair in teams events2. Tuesday & Thursday events - $7 per player. Competitions open to visitors3. Mixed Foursomes Events and Sunday four Ball Events –$14 per pair4. Anzac Day. Proceeds to RSL - $7 per player5. <strong>Shepparton</strong> Four Ball - $4 per pair (plus daily event)6. Championship - $3 per player (on first round)Junior <strong>Golf</strong>Junior membership is applicable to children under the age of 18yrs. Children under the age of 11 yearsmay play the course in the company of their parent members at no cost. Junior members may be givenpermission to compete in all events on application to the Match Committee. Unless advised otherwisejuniors are required to commence play prior to 12 noon on Saturdays and should not include more thantwo juniors in each foursome. Junior clinics will be held throughout the year. Check with the Pro Shopand on the <strong>Club</strong> web site.Procedure In The Event Of A Tied MatchHalved match or stroke play ties shall be replayed unless the Match Committee considers this not tobe expedient, when ties shall be decided as follows:1. MATCH PLAY –(a) SCRATCH EVENTS: A match which ends all square shall be continued hole by hole from thehole where the match began until one side wins a hole.(b) HANDICAP EVENTS: As in Scratch Events, but with the strokes being allowed as if thematch has been recommenced.2. STROKE PLAY –(a) For 18 hole events the best score for the last 9 holes shall be used, if there is still a tie, thelast 6 holes or if still tied the last 3 holes. If a tie still persists then hole by hole from the18 th .(b) In 27, 36, 54 and 72 hole events the last 18 holes shall be used and if still tied countback asin (a) above.(c) In handicap events the relevant handicap or fraction thereof shall be applied.(d) Where a penalty applicable under rule 3-5 of the Rules of golf is applied to a result thispenalty shall be ignored so far as the countback is concerned.NOTE: For a 9 hole event the best score for the last 6holes shall be used if there is still a tie thelast 3 holes, if a tie still persists then hole by hole from the 9 th hole.HandicapsMembers without handicaps are required to lodge five completed cards. The failure of Members tolodge cards may result in the withdrawal or halving of handicaps.For all events handicaps will be as at day of play.In mixed Canadian Foursomes events, handicap is 3/8 of the combined handicap of players.9


Rules Of Play For <strong>Club</strong> ChampionshipsThe <strong>Club</strong> Championship will consist of two qualifying rounds of eighteen holes stroke play, followed byMatch Play. In the <strong>Club</strong> Championships the 8 th qualifier will be decided by a sudden death playoff onthe Sunday morning prior to the quarter finals commencing. In B, C, D grades all ties for qualifiers willbe decided by count back. All matches over 18 holes except the final of the <strong>Club</strong> championship, whichwill be over 36 holes. Eligibility to compete in the <strong>Club</strong> Championships requires a male member whosehome club is other than <strong>Shepparton</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, to have played a minimum of five competitive singlesrounds at the <strong>Shepparton</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Club</strong> in the twelve months prior to the entry closing date. In exceptionalcircumstances permission to compete may be granted on application to the Match Committee.Eight qualifiers will contest the Open, B, C & D Grade Championships in <strong>2013</strong>. After the completion ofthe first qualifying round, the Match Committee will assess the handicaps of competitors who haveentered the Championships and ensure that there are a balanced number of participants in each grade.The Match Committee reserves the right to alter the handicap sections based on the number ofentrants contesting the Championships.Should a player from a lower grade qualify for the Open Event following the 2 nd qualifying round, thatplayer will have the option of contesting the Open Championship. This player must inform the Captain(or representative) on the day of completing the 2 nd qualifying round of their intention to play in theOpen Event.All play will be under medal round conditions. Players commencing in A, B, C or D divisions willremain in that Division, for the remainder of the ChampionshipsJunior ChampionshipBest aggregate score over two qualifying rounds by players under 18 years of age at date of firstround.Veteran ChampionshipBest aggregate score over two qualifying rounds by a player aged 55 or over at date of first round.Honour Board EventsGMCU Fourball, Captain’s Trophy, RSL Trophy, legacy Trophy, H.F. Lightfoot Mixed CanadianFoursomes, Lawton Family Perpetual Trophy.Special Events*Denotes Monthly MedalMedallist of the Year to be played in conjunction with Lawton Family Perpetual Trophy. Twelve medalwinners to play off, lowest nett score on the day to be the winner. Trophy to be known as theLAWTON FAMILY PERPETUAL TROPHY.<strong>Shepparton</strong> Four BallTrophies provided by GMCU – Eligibility to compete in the <strong>Shepparton</strong> Four Ball requires a malemember whose home club is other than <strong>Shepparton</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Club</strong>, to have played a minimum of five10


competitive singles rounds excluding handicap cards at the <strong>Shepparton</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Club</strong> in the twelve monthsprior to the entry closing date. In exceptional circumstances, permission to compete, may be grantedon application to the Match CommitteeTime Sheet available in Pro Shop for qualifying round to be played on Saturday 12/3/2011. All playunder medal round conditions. The leading 32 pairs qualify for knockout match play. Summer memberscannot qualify for this event.Lowest marker in each match reduces to scratch and other players reduce their handicaps by the samenumber of strokes. The match is four ball best ball handicap match play. Maximum handicap 36.The KFC – Chicken Run – From October until the end of March a 9 hole Stableford event will beconducted on Wednesdays. In conjunction with this event a special competition will be conducted bythe <strong>Club</strong> Professional. Entry in this event is subject to entry in the ball competition.Medal RoundsMedal rounds are played from the back tees over the full length of the course and are the only roundswhen the course record may be challenged.Rules for Ambrose PlayA team stroke event usually played by a group of four, but can be any number. Each player plays a teeshot at each hole. The captain then selects the best drive which is then played by its owner. The otherMembers retrieve their balls and in turn place with one club-length of the selected position and playtheir second shots. This procedure of selecting the best position continues until a ball is holed. Whenon the green, balls are placed on the selected spot. The score for the team on each hole is the bestscore of any of its players. In the interest of speedy play, it is imperative that each team appoints ateam captain (usually the lowest marker) whose duty it is to select the ball to be played and generallyto direct the order of play of the other players in the team.Starting Time SheetsA time sheet will be posted in the Pro Shop on the Monday of the week prior to the event. Membersshould arrange their own bookings. Saturday morning bookings or cancellations should be made directto the Pro shop ph: 5821 2531. Pro shop trading hours:- Standard time: Monday – Friday 8am-5.30pmSaturday/Sunday 7am – 5.30pmDaylight Saving time: Monday-Friday 8am-7pm Saturday/Sunday 7am-7pmHole In OneOn the occasion of a member holing in one during competition, it will be the pleasure of the <strong>Club</strong> tosuitably celebrate with the member present.PracticePractice on the course is not permitted at any time. A member may play a round hitting a second ball.On the practice fairway play should only be from designated areas and be limited to 6,7, 8 & 9 ironsand wedge.11


ComplaintsAll complaints should be made in writing to the <strong>Club</strong> Secretary, who if unable to satisfy them, willsubmit them to the Executive Committee. No member shall directly reprimand an employee of the<strong>Club</strong>.Car ParkingMembers are requested to strictly observe the parking rules. The areas marked for the Committee ofthe <strong>Club</strong> are reserved for them at all times. Ladies Committee members may use parking areas onWednesdays only. The President, Captain, Lady President, Lady Captain and Administration Secretaryparking area is reserved for them only at all times. Parking bays in front of the motel are for motelguests only.Members’ Guests and VisitorsMembers’ guests and visitors are welcome at <strong>Shepparton</strong> <strong>Golf</strong> <strong>Club</strong> and are asked to comply with the<strong>Club</strong>’s dress and behavioural code.LiquorThe SGC is the holder of a Full <strong>Club</strong> Licence and can trade daily. The hours are determined by themanagement but generally the bar is open from 11am to 7pmThese hours may be varied according to demand. The sale of liquor to persons under age of 18 yearsis not permitted. Liquor purchased elsewhere is not permitted to be consumed on course or inclubhouse.THE CONSUMPTION OF LIQUOR ON THE COURSE SHOULD BE LIMITED SO AS NOT TOCAUSE DISRUPTION TO PLAY OR OFFENCE TO FELLOW GOLFERS.SGC Balcony BBQBookings must be made with the kitchen staff. LADY MEMBERS<strong>Club</strong> CompetitionWednesday is Ladies’ <strong>Club</strong> Competition day. 18 hole rounds, as designated in the syllabus, willbe played in three divisions. A – Grade is 0 – 20, B – Grade is 19 – 27 and C – Grade is 28 – 45.Ties will be decided by a count-back. A 9 hole competition played at the end of the field isavailable. Lady Members who are not financial at the 1 st March, 2012 are ineligible for <strong>Club</strong> events.Friday’s event is 9 hole Stableford.Saturday has a Ladies Competition. The event will be the Men’s event of the day, except thatFourball events will become singles events. Ladies enter on the timesheet in the Pro Shop on all days.The Match Committee determine the conditions relative to those competitions or, in the event ofunforseen circumstances, can revise them on the day.Hit-off times are:- 9.00am - June, July and August8.30am - April, May, September and October8.00am - March and November7.00am - December, January and FebruaryEntry Fees are:- Wednesday - $7Friday-Winter - $3Summer - $4 ($2 towards trophies)Saturday - $8On payment of Green and Competition fees, visitors are eligible to compete in regular competition,excluding Major <strong>Club</strong> Events.HandicappingAll cards returned in competition are to be used for handicapping purposes. <strong>Golf</strong> Link is used tomaintain all records. This must be paid by first day of theWednesday Winter Competition. New members joining the <strong>Club</strong> during the season may pay after thatdate. **Indicates these major events.**SGC Lady Medallist of the YearThe winner of the Medal will be decided by the lowest nett aggregate of the FOUR best scoresselected from the SIX Stroke rounds designated the syllabus. In the event of a tie a play-off over 18holes on the next Stroke round will decide the winner. If a tie still remains then 3, 6 or 9 holes will beplayed with the proportion of the handicap adjusted until a decision is reached.13

B,C and D Grades will be fromhandicaps 19-45. On the day before the first stroke round the Match Committee will assessthe handicaps of the entrants and ensure that there is a balanced number in each of the threegrades. The handicaps for the three grades will be announced before the first round and willstay the same for all rounds. The Match Committee reserves the right to alter the handicapsections each year. Should a player from a lower grade qualify for the Open Event that playerhas the option of contesting the Open Championship.All Qualifying, Semi-final and Final Rounds must be played from the Medal Marks.All Championship Divisions will be played over TWO Qualifying Stroke Scratch rounds.The FOUR top qualifiers will compete for the SGC Ladies Championship. Ties for the first threepositions will be decided by countback – ties for the fourth place will be decided by a three hole playoffover holes 10, 11 and 12.There will be FOUR qualifiers in B, C and D Grades – ties will be decided by countback.The Final of the SGC Ladies’ Championship is 36 hole Matchplay. All other Finals and Semi-finalsare18 hole Matchplay. If the score is square, all matches continue hole by hole until a decision isreached.There are two events run in conjunction with the first two rounds of the <strong>Club</strong> Championships which areplayed as follows:-Ties are decided by countback over the second round and Handicaps remain as at the beginning of thefirst round.**Aggregate Handicap TrophyTrophy donated by Annie McCrabbThe winner will be the player with the lowest nett aggregate score after the two qualifying rounds.14
