Hewas inducted into thePresident's Society, the highesthonor an undergraduate at St.John's can receive and SigmaDelta Pi, the NationalCollegiate Hispanic HonorSociety as a Spanish minor.2007Carl Luxhoj competed in theNCAA D3 Outdoor Track andField National Championshipsin Marietta, Ohio, placing 3rdin the long jump with a leap of23 feet 4 inches (a newpersonal record for him), andhe broke his own Coast GuardAcademy record. With his 3rdplace finish, Carl earnedAll-American status in thelong jump event. He alsotriple jumped 48 feet 4 3/4inches to place 8th, thusearning All-American status inthat event. Throughout thesummer at the Coast GuardAcademy, Carl had sailingtraining, reported to Mobile,Alabama for flight schoolindoctrination at a CoastGuard Air Station, and thenspent 3 weeks as one of thecadets in charge of running theAIM Program for interestedCGA high school students.27
