A soil analysis can determine what nutrients the soil has or lacks, so that you can apply the fertilizeranalysis that will get your turf and landscape looking lush and green. Applying too much or too little nutrients can harmplant growth—you’ll save time and money when you can apply the optimal nutrients for the soil condition and turf needs.Reading Fertilizer lAbelsOn any fertilizer label, you’ll find three numbers, 16-6-8, for example. These numbers represent the percentage of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (N-P-K) the fertilizer contains. These are the three most important nutrients for plant growth. Each nutrient helps target a specific need:Nitrogen – Foliage growth and greening.Phosphorus – Root and bloom development and growth.Potassium – Overall health, vigor and defense against disease and insects.Other nutrients, such as sulfur and iron, are also found in smaller quantities. These are called secondary or micronutrients.Product MixFertilizer & Fertigation | Fungicides | weed & Pest ControlOrganic Amendments | Seed | SodContact a Ewing Turf Specialist at tuRFPRODucts@EWING1.COM.

Poor soils will result in deeper excavation.• Depth of base material will depend on the application: 4" for pedestrian walkways or patios; 6" for residentialdriveways; and 8-10" for parking lots and residential streets.• To maintain consistent joint width, use the “click and drop” method: The bottom 1/2" of the paver should clickfirmly against the top portion of the units already installed. Release grip and allow paver to drop into place.• Snap a string line to maintain proper joint width throughout installation. Run multiple lines in a perpendicular manner.• Once pavers have been placed, compact properly, sweep in joint sand and compact again. Polymeric sand shouldbe used to prevent sand loss, weed growth and insect infestation.• Create a maintenance plan and protect your pavers with a quality sealer and proper cleaner.Become a Techniseal CertIFIED ApplICAtorIn conjunction with Techniseal, Ewing offers a free-of-charge Certified Applicator Program for landscapers and paverinstallers. WaterManagementSmart IRRIGAtIONStarts With You!We provide the products, but as a landscape professional, you have the most important role in smartirrigation—you implement the practices. Fortunately, with the latest water-saving technologies availableat Ewing, it’s easy to be “smart.” From high efficiency nozzles and smart controllers to drip irrigation andrainwater harvesting products, we have the products you need to reduce water use and lower water billsfor your customers.Show yOur SuPPORtPledge your support for smart irrigation with a free “Smart Irrigation Starts With Me” wristband. Available at your localbranch during the month of July, let this wristband serve as a daily reminder of your commitment to smart irrigation;show your clients that you are sustainability-minded; and encourage others to engage in efficient watering practices.Easy Fixes; Easy sAVINGs• Eliminate overspray onto hardscape by adjusting the arc on your sprinkler. No matter how much you irrigatehardscape, it won’t grow!• Eliminate water run-off from the landscape. Reduce run times and use the common “Cycle and Soak” featurefound on most irrigation controllers.• Check your pressure when irrigating. If you see misting, your pressure is too high and you’re wasting water thatisn’t covering the landscape. Consider installing pressure regulation at the sprinkler head, at the irrigation valve,or at your water main point of connection.• Got dry spots? Rather than increase your run times, do a simple irrigation inspection while the system is runningand make sure you have as uniform coverage as possible by checking your sprinkler nozzles.
