Five arts presentations were<strong>of</strong>fered, reflecting literature, music, art, cultureand <strong>the</strong>atre.Story Time at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>In partnership with <strong>the</strong> <strong>Boca</strong> <strong>Raton</strong> Public Library,<strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> hosted three-week storytellingseries for students in grades 1 through 5. StoryTime links preselected children’s literature withan exhibited work <strong>of</strong> art and gave students <strong>the</strong>chance to explore <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>’s galleries in arelaxed yet focused and interactive setting.Family DayEngaging and fun family programming includeda short film, an interactive art-making activityand live <strong>the</strong>atrical, musical and danceperformances.Meet a Master, Create a MasterpieceOnce a month, staff educators provided childrenin grades 3 through 5, with an opportunity tolearn about a master artist whose works wereon exhibit at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> and <strong>the</strong>n create amasterpiece in <strong>the</strong> style <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> selected artist.Music at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>The creativity inherent in music was celebratedat <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong> with various genres <strong>of</strong> musicsuch as jazz, vocal pop and classical, performedlive in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>’s galleries. This in-seasonprogram has become a favorite for visitors<strong>of</strong> all ages.FilmsFilms shown throughout <strong>the</strong> year related to <strong>the</strong><strong>Museum</strong>’s Permanent Collection and temporaryexhibitions. The <strong>Museum</strong> also hosted <strong>the</strong> series,Films for a Summer Afternoon. Approximately3,000 viewers enjoyed <strong>the</strong> 77 films shown at<strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>.From <strong>the</strong> <strong>Art</strong>ist’s PerspectiveLocal working artists led monthly dynamicdiscussions on art-making, <strong>the</strong> creative processand revealed <strong>the</strong>ir critical insights intoart exhibited at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>. The programencouraged a dialogue between artists insouth Florida, <strong>the</strong> community and <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>.Gallery Talks and LecturesGallery talks provided adults with an opportunityto discover <strong>the</strong> masterpieces in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Museum</strong>’sPermanent Collection. Conducted by educationstaff, <strong>the</strong> format allowed for more intimatediscussion in analyzing and interpreting works<strong>of</strong> art. In addition to gallery talks, <strong>the</strong> EducationDepartment solicited scholars and critics, bothlocally and nationally, to broaden <strong>the</strong> experiencefor <strong>Museum</strong> visitors with lectures aboutexhibitions and <strong>Museum</strong> collections.Curator’s Highlight Tours<strong>Museum</strong> Senior Curator Wendy Blazierpresented monthly in-depth tours <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><strong>Museum</strong>’s changing exhibitions, lending greaterinsight into <strong>the</strong> artists and individualmasterworks on exhibition.BOCA RATON MUSEUM OF ARTANNUAL REPORT 15
