The unit is powerednormally remotely from the outdoor unit. The frontpanel allows to manually control the configuration ofan outdoor converter in a similar way as it is possiblefor indoor converter units.Also versions to control more than one converter fromthe same unit are available (Options Dual and Multi).These units include an internal power supply.Remote control of the complete setup via RS232,RS485 or IP over Ethernet is possible at this controlunit, also alarm relay outputs are provided. For theconnection to the outdoor unit or to the remotecontrolled unit in general, an RS485 connection isused.As option this unit is also available for standard rackmount converters. In this case the unit includes itsown power supply. The option internal power supplycan also be used to provide power to controlled units,which do not have any own power supply.Uplink Power ControlUplink Power Control is a hardware and softwareoption for the Remote Control Unit.The Uplink Power Control senses a DC signal from abeacon receiver. If due to additional atmosphericattenuation caused by rain, snow, clouds or fog oralso due to antenna misalignment the beacon signal isattenuated, the transmitted signal is increasedproportionally until a configurable maximum additionalgain is reached or the maximum gain of theupconverter is reached.The uplink power control has the following interfacefor the DC signal from the beacon receiver:Connector type:DSUB-9, maleDC voltage range: 0 … 10 VInput for lock signal/alarm signal from the beaconreceiverThe following Operational Parameters can be configured:Uplink power control on/offMaximum gain increase in reference to clear skygainSampling and update period in secondsRatio between decrease of beacon signal andincrease of transmission signal (due to differenceof rain attenuation effect for different frequencies)Up to 5 DC values for beacon signal strength canbe entered as reference points for linearinterpolation (characteristic of beacon receiver).Clear sky value of DC beacon receiver signalSustain period in seconds (up 3600 seconds) forwhich the uplink power control keeps the last gainincrease value (in case of deep fade conditionswhere the beacon receiver can lose lock for someperiod of time).The following Specifications can be monitored:DC signal from beacon receiverCalculated attenuation of beacon signalCurrent gain increase of transmission signal(theoretical value only if the uplink power controlmode is off)502012-09-17
