Many <strong>of</strong> these options are considerably less invasivethan many <strong>of</strong> our conventional restorative therapies. Many patients presentfor esthetic restorative treatment, and are becoming increasingly sophisticatedin their expectations <strong>of</strong> the final results. Additionally, manufacturersare bringing a myriad <strong>of</strong> new products to the market, <strong>of</strong>ten accompanied bya blizzard <strong>of</strong> information purported to demonstrate the benefits and efficacy<strong>of</strong> these new products.This presentation will analyze both successful and failed cases to delineatethe procedures essential for success with conventional and contemporaryadhesive restorative dentistry. Case reports.Dr. Terry Donovan received his DDS from the University <strong>of</strong> Alberta in 1967,and practiced full time in Regina, Saskatchewan for 13 years. He receivedhis Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics from the University <strong>of</strong> SouthernCalifornia. He was a Pr<strong>of</strong>essor and Director <strong>of</strong> the Advanced Education inProsthodontics Program at USC. He has been Associate Dean for GeneralPractice and Executive Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the University<strong>of</strong> Southern California, as well as the Chairman <strong>of</strong> the Department<strong>of</strong> Restorative <strong>Dentistry</strong>. He is currently Pr<strong>of</strong>essor and Section Head <strong>of</strong> Biomaterialsin the Department <strong>of</strong> Operative <strong>Dentistry</strong> at the University <strong>of</strong> NorthCarolina, School <strong>of</strong> <strong>Dentistry</strong> at Chapel Hill. He has published extensively, andhas lectured worldwide on restorative dentistry and materials science. He isa member <strong>of</strong> the ADA, CDA, North Carolina Dental Society, CAIC, American<strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> Restorative <strong>Dentistry</strong>, American <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> Esthetic <strong>Dentistry</strong>,the American College <strong>of</strong> Prosthodontists, a Fellow <strong>of</strong> the American College<strong>of</strong> Dentists, and an Honorary Life Member <strong>of</strong> the College <strong>of</strong> Dental Surgeons<strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan, The Association <strong>of</strong> Prosthodontists <strong>of</strong> Canada, and theWestern Canada Dental Society. Deb has had many roles in education, most recentlyas Program Manager/Instructional Lead Teacher with the AdvancedBroadband Enabled Learning program based at York University, <strong>Toronto</strong>, Ontarioand as Curriculum Consultant for School Libraries in the York RegionDistrict School Board.Janet Murphy has over 30 years <strong>of</strong> varied teaching and leadership experienceand she has the unique position <strong>of</strong> having responsibility in both K-12 andpost secondary education. Janet currently leads and manages the AdvancedBroadband Enabled Learning (ABEL) program for York University’s Office <strong>of</strong>the Vice President Research and Innovation and York Region District SchoolBoard. In this position, Janet provides leadership in the implementation <strong>of</strong>broadband learning, effective use <strong>of</strong> digital resources and blended programsfor students, staff and community. Janet has received provincial and nationalawards recognizing her leadership in education.
