• There is an upcoming full day seminar and workshop called “Water Leaders ofTomorrow Seminar” organised by the International Water Forum (30 May <strong>2011</strong>).AWA is supporting the event (along with Engineers Without Borders and theInternational Water Centre). The event is aimed at students and young waterprofessionals 2-3 years into their career. <strong>YWP</strong>s will deliver a 5 minute “Introductionto AWA <strong>YWP</strong>” and have fliers to promote to all attendees. Event speakers include:o Nathan Cammerman, IWRM Consultingo Jim Pruss, Seqwater• Sharon Ible (AWA QLD Branch Manager) is consolidating our approach to eventsplanning and management. Provides a structure around:o Inclusion of each <strong>YWP</strong> event in the branch budget to facilitate measuring thesuccess of different event typeso Approaching potential sponsors ahead of timeo Publicity for the event and online registrationo Overall aim is to include events in the budget 18 months ahead of timeNSW• Held the first of three seminar series on the 3rd March – Water resources NSW.It included the award of the Peter Cullen scholarship to Daniela Cortez, from theUniversity of Technology Sydney. The next Seminar will be on the 8th June andwill focus on Developing Communities and Disaster Relief• Water Careers Evening at UNSW – as part of the NSW <strong>YWP</strong>’s efforts to promotethe water industry to university students, we held our annual water careersevening at UNSW. About 90 students came to hear from a panel of five waterindustry professionals, representing careers across construction, consulting,research and also included a representative from Sydney Water and a waterindustry recruiter who was able to provide students with job-seeking advice.• Orchard Hills Water Treatment Plant Site Visit – 25 people enjoyed a Fridayafternoon tour of one of Sydney Water’s water treatment plants, followed bylunch.VIC• Successful <strong>YWP</strong> Regional Conference to Geelong (Friday 25 th to Saturday 26 thFebruary <strong>2011</strong>). Barwon Water and Tyco were our sponsors. Over 60 peopleattended from Melbourne and Regional centres. Melbourne participants took thetrain from Southern Cross Station on Friday afternoon supporting oursustainability principles.• In the final stages of finalising our Sustainability Policy.• Vic Branch has completed a Stakeholder Mapping Exercise which one of our YPcommittee members was involved with.• The Membership Subcommittee has been ringing new members to make themfeel welcome and outline upcoming events that they might be interested inattending.• <strong>April</strong> 14 holding a seminar called the Murray Darling Basin: Past, Present andFuture. http://www.awa.asn.au/EventDetail.aspx?id=4294970533SA• New Committee Members: Suzie Lloyd and Bill Fuller (KBR)• Awards Dinner – 19th November, possible James Bond theme
