Universal Oxygen Sensor Installation Instructions | C 5Step 5 (cable longer than 75 cm)Place the Universal Oxygen Sensor beside the original Sensor. Cutthe cable of the original sensor in two until it is as long as the cablefrom the Universal Oxygen Sensor (fig. 5) Remove the cable fasteneron the Universal Oxygen Sensor. - Proceed to step 6Step 6Using installation pliers , remove approx. 1 cm (important!) of thecable insulation (fig. 6) from all cable ends, taking care not todamage any wires.Step 7Cable colour allocations for the Universal Oxygen Sensor are as follows,sensor output signal wire = black, sensor heater element cables= White (Note - heater is not polarity sensitive) Sensor signalground(where used) = GreyImportant: The cable allocations must be assigned correctly. Otherwisethe Sensor could be destroyed . Put the large plug housing overthe cable from the Universal Oxygen Sensor and the small plug coverover the cable from the original Oxygen Sensor (fig. 7).Step 8Put the yellow seals over each cable end in such a way that the narrowend of the seals points to the rear of the plug housing (fig. 8)Step 9Insert the insulated cable ends from the Universal Oxygen Sensorinto the grey cable connectors. Screw the centre pieces of the cableconnectors together (fig. 9) ensure the leads are fitted tightly inside thecable connectors.Step 10Connect the Sensor to the cable harness in the vehicle (fig. 10)Check again that the cables are correctly assigned as in step 7 aboveNote: Cables must not be knotted. Pull the cable connections intothe plug housing . Check that the tension is correct.Step 11Insert the cable connectors into the plug housing. Press the plugcover onto the plug housing until it can be heard locking in place.(fig. 11)Step 7Step 8Step 9Step 10Step 11Step 12Install the Universal Oxygen Sensor into the vehicle (fig 12).Secure the cable so that it is safe from extreme heat and scuffing .Use the cable fixtures from the original Sensor. If neccessary, use thecable fasteners so that the plug housing is free from strain and doesnot vibrate.
