COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT - Committees and Working GroupsContinuedThe CFS Department fosters connections, develops partnerships, builds capacity and catalyses/participates ingroups that work on enhancing services and addressing community social issues and needs.Friends of Jasper ChildcareThe Friends of Jasper Childcare facilitate and organizecommunication between Meeting of the Watersprograms and parents, fundraise for childcareprograms to provide special equipment and programs,lobby all levels of government for fundingand space, and promote education and developmentto the community. In 2012, the Friends of Jasper Childcare fundraisedthe money to provide a music program,craft supplies, a new water table, and classphotos for the daycare and out trips, lunchesand supplies for OOSCJasper Accessibility CommitteeFollowing a service gap identified by the YoungAdult CAT, the Accessibility Committee was formedand meets monthly in the CFS boardroom.Jasper Literacy CommitteeOutreach Workers and other agency representativesmeet monthly to identify and address literacychallenges and resources within all populations ofthe community. Plans and hosts literacy eventsthroughout the year and particularly during FamilyLiteracy Week.Jasper Seniors’ SocietyThe Seniors Outreach Worker regularly attendedSeniors’ Society Meetings and events, to form andstrengthen connections, and to share information.Jasper Young Citizens CommitteeCFS provides support to a group of young Jasperiteswho have come together to discuss and addressthe social issues that affect them.New-to-Town Welcome Events CommitteeAgencies meet and plan how best to welcome andorient Jasper’s seasonal influx of staff as they arrive.The New-to-Town Welcome BBQ attracted 135young adultsOUTJasper CommitteeThe Youth/Teen and Young Adult Outreach Workerscollaborate with other agency representatives toidentify trends and service gaps, share informationand plan programming specifically pertaining to Jasper’sLGBTQ population.Parent Link West Network Managing Partnersmeeting with daycare directors from throughout theregion to share information and keep apprised ofnew and upcoming developments in the field.Regional Go Girl CommitteeYouth/Teen Outreach Worker and Middle ChildhoodOutreach Worker are key leaders in planning eachannual conference in collaboration with regionalpartners.Regional Go Bro CommitteeYouth/Teen Outreach Worker and Middle ChildhoodOutreach Worker catalysed the GO Bro initiative in2011 and led a regional collaboration in plan thefirst annual conference.Research CommitteeA UofA and UofC research team is currently undertakinga research/evaluation project to evaluateJasper’s innovative, intersectoral collaborative teamdelivery model and how it improves wellness at everyage and quality of life of the community. Theteam meets with the CFS Director and variousstakeholders to:map the developmental process of the Jaspermodel in terms of evolving and current structureand functioning of its professional and communitymembersexplore the mandates and cultures of memberorganizations in the JCT and their effects onparticipation level and perceived advantages ofthe collaborationidentify financial, social, professional and communitycosts and benefits of intersectoral collaborationcompare population health and social outcomesin Jasper with other communities ofsimilar dimensionsbuild an evaluation process with validated toolsfor repeated long-term evaluations of the JCTand other intersectoral collaborationsSchool Advisory CommitteeThe Middle Childhood Outreach Worker attendsSAC meetings in her capacity as family-school liaison.Volunteer Week CommitteeA representative from the CFS department participatesin the annual preparations and planning forvolunteer week celebrations.
