Our aim it to make Faith LutheranCafeteria the best it can be. Soliciting feedbackis one of the tools we will be usingto do this. Feedback however has to havesome parameters. It needs to be specific, nonjudgmental and also it should includesome new ideas on how to improve. Thegoal is to improve, to become better inmeeting the needs of all interested parties. This is a collaborative assignment, wecare and want to continually improve.I will be reading every email that issent to me and I will be sending a followup email to those students who provide uswith some wonderful new insights.I also would like to mention that ourcafeteria was just awarded, for the secondyear running, the Double Gold Award foran NSF audit. This isa wonderful achievementand could nothave happened withoutcontinuing training and constant vigilancein the kitchen to adhering to the higheststandards of safety and sanitation.Thank you,Catherine Mckiernan, American CulinaryFederation Certified Executive ChefHave you heard about the Service Leadership Classes?Mark 10:45 “For even the son of man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”Service Leadership is a new class being offered this year at Faith with teacher Haley Wheat. Incoming Juniors and Seniors apply in the springfor this class and must have their own car to drive to various places to volunteer. The students love the experiences they are having in this classand are really learning to live out their faith through serving various people and organizations throughout our Las Vegas community. In classstudents read a book a quarter, have class discussions and maintain a class blog. Our class slogan is: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and Iremember. Involve me and I learn.” – Benjamin Franklin“Service Leadership has helped me grow so much as a person. I have learned how to appreciate what I have so much more, but most importantlyhow to give back to my community. You can never love too much!” says Lexi FleuryStudents have volunteered at a wide variety of places: Opportunity Village, Faith Thrift Store, severallocal public elementary schools, Atria Senior Living and many more. In addition, students have broughtin items to make to give to homeless people they encounter while driving.
