RETIREMENTS
Bed Manager, Maxine Ramsden,
Karen Williams - retires
Karen Williams with BRI colleagues
Karen Williams, clinical nurse specialist
for urology, has retired due to ill health.
Karen worked at the BRI for over 35
years; fi rst as a student nurse, then as a state
enrolled nurse in Accident and Emergency
for 12 years, before her conversion to a
registered general nurse.
Karen worked on ward 20 before ending
up as Matron covering wards 20 and 21.
Her leaving party at the Fiddlers 3 pub
was a joint retirement and charity fundraiser
which raised £1,228 for the Brain Cancer
Research Trust.

“Unfortunately Karen was diagnosed
with a brain tumour last February and
has undergone surgery, radiotherapy
and chemotherapy leading to her early
retirement.
“The leaving party was fantastic and we
were overwhelmed by the generosity of the
owners of the pub who not only gave us the
venue free of charge but also provided the
food. The night was very special and we’d
like to thank all Karen’s colleagues who came
to give her a brilliant send-off.”
Brenda says Adieu!
Brenda Hubbert, procurement, has
retired after almost 32 years’ stalwart
service to the NHS.
Many staff from across the Foundation
Trust gathered at a special leaving
presentation which took place on April 26
in the joint committee room, Field House,
to wish Brenda well in retirement.
Sylvia’s goodbye
After 39 years’ service, Sylvia Knight,
accommodation manager, has retired
from Non Clinical Support Services
(NCSS).
A farewell party took place in the joint
committee room in the BRI’s Field House.
The NCSS management team would
like to thank Sylvia for all her hard work
and dedication and wish her well in her
retirement.
David’s fond farewell
Free Church Chaplain David Muschamp
recently retired after 12 years of
service. He was known to many across
the organisation and was particularly
passionate about the care of bereaved
people.
Appreciations for David’s work were
expressed by chaplaincy team leader Chris
Johnson and chairman David Richardson.
