USIHC -- Web Site Committee Report 2008Mission Statement:The USIHC’s web site exists to serve the needs of the membership, promote the Icelandic Horseto guests, and relive the burden of Congress volunteers.General Complete the work started in 2007 to revise overall site layout and navigation. Add graphical member, member household, and horse statistics. Make USIHC logo a link to the home page to follow web best practices. Standardize footer to correctly set copyright date and contact info on all pages. Change background on the left side of all pages on the test server to make it obvious whichserver is being viewed. Add placeholders to all (or key) pages for sponsorship links in either a banner-at-top-of-pageposition or on the right side. Clobber all personal email addresses and replace them with forwarding aliases indicative ofCongress office or function (eg. president@, stallion_book@, etc.) Make sure all pages are fully W3C standards compliant. Actively monitor web logs and make sure all pages are error free.Quarterly Pages Implement online ad submission and tracking pages. Publish the Quarterly online as a PDF. Allow members to opt in to receive Quarterly via PDF (instead of by US Mail).PRP Pages Allow members to use Acrobat Reader to complete applications. Integrate PDF enrollment with membership application and renewal.Calendar Automate calendar page so events drop off at the end of each month. Maintain archive of expired events for browse and/or search. Create RSS feed for calendar.Bulletin Board Automate bulletin board so items drop off at a specific date as specified for each item. Maintain archive of expired bulletin board for browse and/or search. Create RSS feed for bulletin board.Stallion Book Page Accept online submissions for new listings. Accept PayPal for new listings.What we didn’t get to…1. Update the photos throughout the site with new, more powerful images.2. Investigate implementation of a horse sales page to generate revenue for the Congress.3. Online PRP hour tracking & submission. Allow submission via web site and email.4. PRP Automated scoreboard (requires online hour tracking).5. Online application for sanctioned competitions (both for organizer and participants).
