2008 was a great year for youth in competition as well. We had more youth participants in sanctionedUSIHC competitions than ever before, some of them placing highly in the National Ranking system. Wehad a very successful “Youth brainstorm session” at Gudmar Petursson’s sanctioned show in Kentucky. Many youth attended and great new ideas were born.Looking AheadAlthough there were many other things we would have liked to accomplish in 2008, the rest of our timehas been dedicated to the planning of the first FEIF youth Camp to be held in the United States. This isan event of great importance for our country and it will give us a chance to show the other countries ourhospitality and also our dedication to the Icelandic Horse. Barb and Dan Riva have offered to hold theevent at Winterhorse Park in Wisconsin and preparations are well underway.I think we are at the beginning of an exciting new era for North America’s youth and we will continuestriving hard to create more opportunities and events for these kids. 2009 has been declared “Year ofthe Youth” by the USIHC and we hope that you will join us in making it a year to be remembered.
