Verification of experience in the nursing specialty/area of nursing practice* Be specific – Important determinant of your eligibilityALL CANDIDATES COMPLETE CAREFULLYBecause this section serves to verify your RN experience in your nursing specialty/area of nursingpractice and determine your eligibility, it is crucial that this section be completed in full and that alldetails requested be included.• Dates of employment in the chosen nursing specialty/area of nursing practice must be provided upto and including the past five years only. Experience and employment in all years before the pastfive years will be considered inapplicable.• Begin with your most current employment.• Be specific about the time frame in which you have earned your hours of experience in the past fiveyears. For example, an RN in the emergency department works 1,950 hours in each year of the fiveyearperiod. The total number of hours in emergency department nursing from January of year one toDecember of year five equals 9,750 hours (1,950 x 5 = 9,750).• You can claim your projected hours of experience to December 31.• Please do not use abbreviations (e.g., Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario should not be referred toas CHEO; the Ottawa Hospital should not be TOH).• Be specific about the unit/department where you work to identify your nursing specialty/area of nursingpractice (e.g., emergency department, outpatient psychiatry).• Refer to the Eligibility Criteria section on pages 2-4 of this guide.
