TruLaser Cell 7040 fiber with dual-station partition for
simultaneous loading and unloading
Ditzingen (Germany) October 26, 2010 – A dual-station
partition for simultaneous loading and unloading, a Y axis
that’s now 2,000 mm for a larger working range and only one
laser light cable for welding and cutting: The TruLaser Cell
7040 with fiber-guided disk laser with numerous
enhancements that will enable users to produce more flexibly
and efficiently is introduced at the Euroblech 2010 trade show
in Hanover.
Cutting and welding with the solid-state laser
In the last few years, the TruLaser Cell Series 7000 has set
new standards in dynamic 2D and 3D material processing.
Both volume producers with short production cycle times as
well as job shops benefit from the modular 5-axis laser system
that efficiently cuts and welds mass production components
such as B-columns made of ultra resistant steel and aluminum
tailgates. In addition to the CO2 laser models, TRUMPF has
also offered the TruLaser Cell 7040 with a TruDisk disk laser
since the beginning of the year.
Its dual-station partition allows for simultaneous loading
and unloading
For automated parts processing, the TruLaser Cell 7040 fiber
also comes with an optional rotational changer. The high-end
laser system with solid-state laser, which is unique for its
class, will also be equipped with a dual-station partition
starting next spring. The dual-station partition allows for
simultaneous set-up and laser processing with two available
work areas each measuring four square meters. A
sophisticated security system ensures that the laser’s high
safety requirements are met.
Above all, the dual-station operation offers job shops the
opportunity to benefit from the high productivity of the solidstate
laser flexibly and efficiently and reduce parts costs. The
working range of the Y axis has now been increased to 2,000
mm, enabling users to process even larger components and
thus expand their order processing capacity.
Productivity high, parts costs low
The productivity of the TruLaser Cell 7040 and its 3-kilowatt
TruDisk disk laser can be seen when it’s compared to the CO2
laser model (5 kilowatts) from the year 2008. This model took
57 seconds to cut a B-column (cutting length 6,505 mm). The
current model with solid-state laser cuts the same component
in only 52 seconds. If all costs such as the original investment
and operation are figured in, the user's manufacturing costs
per component are reduced by more than 15 percent with the
TruLaser Cell 7040.
It works like CO2 lasers
The TruLaser Cell 7040 with solid-state laser offers all the
options that operators know and expect of machines with CO2
lasers. This also includes the feature FocusLine, the
programmable adjustment of the focus point, which must be
adapted to the specific application. The FastLine Cell option
allows the TruLaser Cell 7040 fiber to pierce on the fly –
meaning the machine does not have to stop – which saves up
to 40 percent in processing time. Where flexibility is called for,
especially in job shops, TruTops Basic software also
enhances productivity by allowing the NC programs to be
customized directly on the machine – conveniently, easily and
securely. It displays the NC track and the specially developed
machine functions. This means that machine operation
remains transparent and simple even with several geometric
adjustments.
One laser light cable – two applications
TRUMPF presents still another functional innovation in the
TruLaser Cell 7040 at the Euroblech trade show: cutting and
welding with one and the same laser light cable. This is made
possible by the new 2in1 fiber that TRUMPF developed
especially for the TruLaser Cell 7040 with TruDisk disk laser.
The fiber has two concentric fiber diameters in only one laser
light cable. The inner fiber core has a diameter of 100 µm; the
outer cladding's diameter is 400 or 600 µm. When cutting the
laser beam is coupled in the inner fiber core; when welding it
is coupled to the outer cladding. The 2in1 fiber ensures that
the laser beam concentrically reaches the workpiece at the
correct depth of field and the correct focus diameter.
Users switching processing methods in the TruLaser Cell
7040 fiber must only replace the processing optic. The system
control unit in the TruLaser Cell 7040 identifies whether the
