Barrie’s original Peter Pan, the comicfantasyplay that has entranced young and old for more than 100years. Peter Pan will be accompanied by a live orchestra in the FirstProduction to use the complete music by America’s greatcomposer/conductor, Leonard Bernstein, written for a hit productionthat premiered on Broadway in 1950 with Jean Arthur as Peter Panand Boris Karloff as Captain Hook and Mr. Darling.Bernstein’s Peter Pan features the full story with Peter, the flyingDarling children, Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, pirates, Indians, lost boys,mermaids and one very large crocodile. Los Angeles-based actorCorina Boettger (Akeelah and the Bee, My Name is Earl) will playPeter, and Arroyo Grande resident Sarah Bierstock will play Wendy.Robert Yacko (Sunday in the Park with George, Sylvia with CathyRigby) will appear as Captain Hook and Mr. Darling, with CarolynHennesy (an Ovation Award-winning actor currently appearing onGeneral Hospital as Diane Miller – mob lawyer) as Mrs. Darling. The play has been a popular choice in therepertory of theatres around the world ever since its premiere inDecember 1904.Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) was perhaps the most influentialfigure in classical music in the last half of the twentieth century.Composer, conductor, author, lecturer and media personality, Mr.Bernstein is renowned for his work in classical music and musicaltheatre, ballet and film, with works such as West Side Story, Candide,On The Town and the score for On The Waterfront.There will be 14 performances of Peter Pan, with evening shows at7 p.m. and matinees at 2 p.m. Previews, December 17 and 18, are$30-$40, with a Gala Opening Night Party on Friday, December 19.Performances are $45-$70 with a $32.50 ticket for children ages fiveto 18.
