Microwave AntennasOpen BoundaryQuad-RidgedHorn AntennaModel 3164-01FEATURES:• 100 MHz - 1 GHz Frequency Range• Excellent Gain Characteristics• Dual Linear Polarization• Better Than 25 dB Cross-Port IsolationETS-Lindgren’s Model 3164-01 Open Boundary Quad-Ridged HornETS-LINDGREN’S MODEL 3164-01OPEN BOUNDARY QUAD-RIDGEDHORN ANTENNA takes the openboundary concept to its extreme byproviding a totally open horn, includingan open boundary feed cavity. The model 3164-01 allows antennaengineers to perform measurementsdown to 100 MHz and up to 1 GHzwith a single antenna. Its ability tomeasure two orthogonal polarizedfields simultaneously means that itcan be used to measure radiationpatterns regardless of the orientationof the antenna under test.FEATURESFrequency RangeThe 3164-01 brings the performanceof the 3164 series horns down to100 MHz. However, the antennais not simply a scaled model ofother horns in this series. To reduceweight and improve the lowend performance the antenna wasdesigned without an enclosed feedcavity. Although the feed cavity isnot present, the antenna can still bemounted inside chambers; nestedin the absorber or against a groundplane. The gain is minimallyaffected by the mounting scheme.Excellent Gain CharacteristicsLike the other 3164 series horns, the 3164-01 has a very flat gainperformance for the upper 2/3 of itsfrequency range. The gain variationover that upper range is usually lessthan 2 dB variation.Dual Linear PolarizationThe 3164-01 has two sets oforthogonal ridges each fed via acoaxial input. The result is an antennathat can simultaneously measuretwo orthogonally polarized componentsof the field. This characteristicmakes it ideal for measuring otherantennas as they are rotated in thequiet zone on an anechoic chamberor antenna range. The inputs arelocated extremely close to each otherwhich reduces the difference in gainbetween them.Cross-Port PolarizationAs in the other horns in this family, the model 3164-01 exhibits greatcross-port isolation with levels betterthan 25 dB.www.ets-lindgren.com
