HEATING DEVICESElectric heating plates · Heating ringsElectric heating platesIt is a good idea to heat bearingsbefore mounting if they are to begiven tight fits on the shaft (cylindricalbearing seats). A sufficientexpansion of the bearings is a-chieved at 80°C to 100°C. Duringthe heating process the temperaturehas to be monitored closely,e.g. with the temperature measuringinstrument FAG 175830. It mustnot exceed 120°C or else the structureand hardness of the materialscould be adversely affected.Rolling bearings can be heated on atemperature-controlled heatingplate. During the process the bearinghas to be covered with a metalsheet and turned over several timesto ensure that it is heated uniformly.FAG heating plate 172017Dimensions:220x220x170 mmPower:switchable 1000/2000 Wat 220 V/50 HzTemperature control:thermostat adjustable from 50°C to300°CFAG heating plate 172018Dimensions:300x300x170 mmPower:2500 W at 220 V/50 HzTemperature control:thermostat adjustable from 50°C to300°COrder designation:172017 or 172018FAG heating plate 172017The heating plates can be used notonly for heating rolling bearings(max. 120°C) but also for heatinglabyrinth rings, shrink-on rings andsealing rings as well as aluminiumheating rings.Heating ringsHeating rings are suitable for dismountingthe inner rings of cylindricalroller bearings and needleroller bearings without lips and innerrings with one lip. Heatingrings are of particular advantagefor the occasional extraction ofsmall or medium-size bearing rings(bore diameters 50 to 200 mm).Heating takes 5 to 30 seconds dependingon the ring size. The heating rings are made of lightmetal and they are radially slotted.Handling is facilitated by the heatinsulatedhandles.Heating rings are heated to200°...300°C by means of an electricheating plate (e.g. FAG 172017or 172018, see above) and slippedonto the inner ring to be extracted. After the inner ring has been extracted,it has to be removed fromthe heating ring at once in order toprevent it from overheating. Each bearing size requires a specialheating ring. VIBRATION DIAGNOSIS DEVICESDetector · Bearing AnalyserVibration diagnosis is the most reliablemethod for detecting machinedamage at an early stage. Imbalancesand faulty alignment can bedetected as well as rolling bearingdamage and gearing defects. With state-of-the-art FAG devicesthe operator can carry out the vibrationdiagnosis alone.FAG offers the following mobilemonitoring devices: the Detectorand the Bearing Analyser.Stationary monitoring devicesinclude a digital vibration monitorand the online monitoring systemVibroCheck.FAG DetectorThe Detector is a handheld measuringdevice that was developedtogether with the PC softwareDETECTOR TRENDLINE for measuringdata in the offline monitoringof production plants. It is user-friendly and very easy tooperate. Due to its low weight it isthe ideal instrument for monitoringlarge plants where long distanceshave to be covered. The Detector monitors:•the absolute machine vibrationin accordance with ISO 10816• the rolling bearing condition bymeans of the envelope detectionmethod. The device features an outlet jackinto which any commerciallyavailable walkman headset can beplugged. This enables users to listento the running noise of anymachine and form an opinion regardingthe condition of a bearing. The Detector provides the characteristicvalues of the running noiseso that it can be evaluated objectively. For more detailed information seealso TI No. WL 80-62.Please direct inquiries to:sales@fis-services.deFAG Bearing AnalyserThe FAG Bearing Analyser is an efficientand reasonably priced vibrationdiagnosis tool for early detectionof rolling bearing damageand gear damage. All types of damage that causenoise - i.e. vibration - are diagnosedby means of the envelopedetection method. The time signal is broken up intoits frequency components bymeans of Fast Fourier Transformation(FFT).In this way even damage in a complexmachine can be unequivocallyallocated to a specific machineelement (gear, rolling bearing). The user is assisted by an “automaticdiagnosis“ mode. If the bearinggeometry and the speeds areknown, the software searches thefrequency spectrum for bearingspecificdamage frequencies. If a threshold value is exceeded, the expert system alerts the user ofthe damage by triggering an alarm. In this way damage can be detectedand analysed regardless of theabsolute magnitude of the signalpower, even without a referencemeasurement. For more detailed information seealso TI No. WL 80-63.Please direct inquiries to:sales@fis-services.deFAG · 50

VIBRATION DIAGNOSIS DEVICESDTECTX1 · VibroCheckFAG DTECTX1The DTECTX1 is an effective andfavourably priced online monitoringdevice. All commonly used acceleration, speed and displacementsensors can be connected to it.Process quantities such as speed, temperature, torque and pressurecan be recorded depending on theversion used. The signal measured by the sensoris broken up into its frequencycomponents by Fast Fourier Transformation(FFT). This permits monitoringof amplitudes for previouslyspecified threshold values withinvery narrow, defined frequencybands and triggering of an alarm ifthese values are exceeded. In thisway damage can be detected at anearly stage by means of frequencyselectivemonitoring.DTECTX1 vibration monitors witha remote monitoring function permitreliable detection of damageand faults in machines without requiringthe presence of a diagnosisexpert.DTECTX1 devices automatically reportchanges – via telecommunicationlines (fixed line modem, mobilephone modem or satellite modem)– to the operator, the plantbuilder or the service provider, nomatter where on earth they areused! With this version, the modem permitsremote access to theDTECTX1 at any time. Measureddata can be called up at any timefrom a distance and analysed bythe diagnosis centre.DTECTX1 devices of the next levelcan automatically issue an alarm ifa threshold value is exceeded. Thus the DTECTX1 permits cost-effective,condition-related maintenance. For more detailed information seealso TI No. WL 80-65.Please direct inquiries to:sales@fis-services.deFAG VibroCheckThe online monitoring systemVibroCheck is used for permanentmonitoring of vital machine elementssuch as rolling bearings andgears. Not only vibration signalscan be measured but other physicalquantities like temperature, power, pressure etc. as well. Themeasured signals can also be usedfor a remote diagnosis. In addition to the general monitoringof characteristic values, users are assisted by an automaticexpert system which indicatesdamage at an early stage. The systemtakes advantage of the factthat frequency analysis revealseven the smallest amplitudes ofperiodic signals so that these signalscan be evaluated before theycan influence composite characteristicvalues. The expert systemgets its information from an automaticallyconducted frequencyanalysis. A bearing list contains allbearings and bearing elementsthat are to be monitored byVibroCheck.VibroCheck is suitable for use bothin machinery with rapidly wearingelements and in plants requiringrelatively little maintenance since itis highly reliable where the predictionof damage is concerned.VibroCheck minimises the risk ofunforeseen failure of machine elementsand contributes towards therapid repair of damage. Please direct inquiries to:sales@fis-services.deFAG · 51
