JOHN BARNES• Associate Head Coach• First SeasonJohn Barnes, a 1995 graduate ofMichigan Tech University, is in his firstseason as associate head coach forthe women’s basketball program afterserving as an assistant at Michiganunder Borseth last season.A member of the Michigan Tech men’sbasketball team from 1991-95, he wasnamed to the GLIAC All-Defensive hissenior year before playing professionallyfor the Kolding BasketballClub in Denmark. While overseas, healso served as the head coach for St.Nicolai, a men’s travel team.Prior to serving as an assistant atMichigan, Barnes was an assistant atWisconsin during the 2010-11 seasonwhere he focused on offensive efficiency,recruiting, player developmentand scouting.His coaching career began as the headcoach at his alma mater, where heled the women’s basketball team to a156-55 record from 2003-10. Duringhis time at the helm of Michigan Tech,his program never had a losing seasonand appeared in five NCAA DivisionII Championships. Throughout histenure, Barnes was named the GLIACCoach of the Year three times andearned Regional Coach of the Yearhonors from the WBCA in 2010.A native of Escanaba, Mich., Barnesenjoys anything that lets him spendtime outdoors. He’s an avid golferand also enjoys fishing and hiking.Family is very important to Barnes ashe comes from a family of 11 brothersand sisters.Green Bay Coaching StaffSARAH BRONK• Assistant Coach• Sixth SeasonIn her sixth season on staff, SarahBronk is the longest-tenured memberof the current Green Bay women’sbasketball coaching staff.Praised as one of the top recruitersin the Midwest, Bronk serves as theprimary recruiting coordinator forGreen Bay. In addition, she workswith the team’s post players and hashelped both Stephanie Sension andBreannah Ranger improve their gamesthis season.Prior to her time at Green Bay, shecoached girls basketball and softballfor six years at Dover-Eyota HighSchool in Minnesota. She also servedas a coach at Winona Cotter and St.Peter high schools, both in Minnesota,and led the Rochester Shock U17 AAUteam for two years.She graduated from the University ofSt. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn. in 1999after a successful softball career.Bronk was a three-year letterwinnerfor the Tommies, helping her teamappear in two NCAA regionals. Prior toattending St. Thomas, she graduatedfrom Winona Cotter High School in1995.Known for her laugh and extremelyoutgoing personality, Bronk residesin Green Bay and enjoys spendingher free time with her nieces andnephews. She also loves a variety ofoutdoor activities including campingand four-wheeling. She can alsofrequently be found on the KressCenter’s racquetball courts.AMANDALEONHARD-PERRY• Assistant Coach• Fifth SeasonOne of Borseth’s former players,Amanda Leonhard-Perry is in her fifthseason as an assistant coach at GreenBay. Her primary duties include filmbreakdown, recruiting and workingwith the team’s guards.She enjoyed a successful career atGreen Bay from 1999-2002, andgraduated as the program’s best freethrow shooter with a 84.7 percentmark for her career. She made 283shots from the charity stripe in herfour years, good for the seventh-bestmark in program history. All told, shefinished with 1,097 career points, 332assists, 189 steals and 114 3-pointerswhile earning academic all-conferencehonors in 2001 and 2002.Upon graduating, Leonhard-Perry acceptedan assistant coach position atNorth Dakota State, where she servedfor three seasons. She helped theBison through its transition to DivisionI and was a key part of the 2007-08NDSU team that finished 12-6 in conferenceplay in its first season in theSummit League.She joined then-head coach MattBollant’s staff for the 2008-09 season,and for Borseth it was a “no brainer”to retain her upon taking over thisseason. Leonhard-Perry has playeda pivotal role in the development ofstandout guard Megan Lukan as a rolemodel and mentor.A native of Ladysmith, Wis., Leonhard-Perry graduated cum laude fromGreen Bay in 2003 with a degree inbusiness administration. She residesin Green Bay with her husband, RayPerry, and the couple is expectingtheir first child this summer.HEATHER GOLDEN• Director of Basketball Operations• First SeasonGolden returned to her Alma Materthis season as Green Bay’s director ofbasketball operations. A 2011 graduatefrom Green Bay, Golden played forthe <strong>Phoenix</strong> from 2006-11.The De Pere, Wis. native appearedin 95 contests throughout her GreenBay career, starting 27 times. Goldenscored 498 career points despite beinghampered with knee injuries.Following her third knee surgery thatforced her to miss the majority of hersenior season, Golden played threeminutes in a win against SoutheastMissouri State on Dec. 10, 2011,receiving a standing ovation from apacked Kress Center crowd.She received the JoAnne JenningsAward during her senior year and wasthe first-ever recipient of the CarolHammerle Scholarship for dedicationand leadership. Golden was also theStudent Athlete Advisory Committee(SAAC) representative for women’sbasketball from 2008-10.A high school teammate of current<strong>Phoenix</strong> standout Adrian Ritchie,Golden was recruited by Kevin Borsethafter a successful high school career.She was a Second Team All-State selectionand also won Bay ConferencePlayer of the Year.Prior to returning to Green Bay as thedirector of operations, Golden workedat Schneider National in Green Bay.She resides in Green Bay and enjoysspending time with her friends andfamily. A true sports fanatic, she loveswatching and playing a variety ofsports and working out. Golden saysshe’s blessed to come to work in abasketball environment each day.
