ARTICLE 189.The personnel of the Turkish Marine shall be recuited entirely by voluntary engagements enteredinto for a minimum period of twenty-five consecutive years for officers, and twelve consecutiveyears for petty officers and men.The number engaged to replace those discharged for any reason other than the expiration of theirterm of service must not exceed five per cent. per annum of the total personnel fixed by the NavalInter-Allied Commission of Control.The personnel discharged from the former Turkish Navy must not receive any kind of naval ormilitary training.Officers belonging to the former Turkish Navy and not demobilised must undertake to serve till theage of forty-five, unless discharged for sufficient reason.Officers and men belonging to the Turkish mercantile marine must not receive any kind of naval ormilitary training.ARTICLE 190.On the coming into force of the present Treaty all the wireless stations in the zone referred to inArticle 178 shall be handed over to the Principal Allied Powers. Greece and Turkey shall notconstruct any wireless stations in the said zone.SECTION III.AIR CLAUSES.ARTICLE 191.The Turkish armed forces must not include any military or naval air forces.No dirigible shall be kept.ARTICLE 192.Within two months from the coming into force of the present Treaty the personnel of the air forceson the rolls of the Turkish land and sea forces shall be demobilised.ARTICLE 193.Until the complete evacuation of Turkish territory by the Allied troops, the aircraft of the AlliedPowers shall have throughout Turkish territory freedom of passage through the air, freedom oftransit and of landing.ARTICLE 194.During the six months following the coming into force of the present Treaty the manufacture,importation and exportation of aircraft of every kind, parts of aircraft, engines for aircraft and partsof engines for aircraft shall be forbidden in all Turkish territory.42
ARTICLE 195.On the coming into force of the present Treaty all military and naval aeronautical material must bedelivered by Turkey, at her own expense, to the Principal Allied Powers.Delivery must be completed within six months and must be effected at such places as may beappointed by the Aeronautical Inter-Allied Commission of Control. The Governments of thePrincipal Allied Powers will decide as to the disposal of this material.In particular, this material will include all items under the following heads which are or have beenin use or were designed for warlike purposes.Complete aeroplanes and seaplanes, as well as those being manufactured, repaired or assembled.Dirigibles able to take the air, being manufactured, repaired or assembled.Plant for the manufacture of hydrogen.Dirigible sheds and shelters of every kind for aircraft.Pending their delivery, dirigibles will, at the expense of Turkey be maintained inflated withhydrogen; the plant for the manufacture of hydrogen, as well as the sheds for dirigibles, may, at thediscretion of the said Powers, be left to Turkey until the dirigibles are handed over.Engines for aircraft.Nacelles and fuselages.Armament (guns, machine-guns, light machine-guns, bombdropping apparatus, torpedo-droppingapparatus, synchronising apparatus, aiming apparatus).Munitions (cartridges, shells, bombs loaded or unloaded, stocks of explosives or of material fortheir manufacture).Instruments for use on aircraft.Wireless apparatus and photographic and cinematographic apparatus for use on aircraft.Component parts of any of the items under the preceding heads.All aeronautical material of whatsoever description in Turkey shall be considered primdfocie as warmaterial, and as such may not be exported, transferred, lent, used or destroyed, but must remain onthe spot until such time as the Aeronautical Inter-Allied Commission of Control referred to inArticle 202 has given a decision as to its nature; this Commission will be exclusively entitled todecide all such points.SECTION IV.INTER-ALLIED COMMISSIONS OF CONTROL AND ORGANISATION.43
