RM Michigan Car Auction
For anyone looking for a
cruiser for the upcoming
summer season, an interesting
driver or a serious collector
car, the Novi Expo
Center was the place to be
for the RM Michigan

Car Auction.
We had some tastes of
spring and some warm
sunny days, and the flowers
are in bloom (including,
maybe especially, dandelions).
But the surest, harbinger
of spring for the car
enthusiast is this annual
RM auction, a rich source of
affordable special interest
cars, with a sprinkling of
rarer items for added interest.
There was a strong crowd
at the auction despite a surprise
spring storm (not really
a surprise to Michigan
residents and probably a
sure sign of spring), involving
rain, snow and sleet.
Topping sales for the event
was a very desirable muscle
car, a 1968 Ford Shelby
GT500 Fastback, which sold
for $84,798. Another 1968
Shelby GT500, a convertible,
brought the biggest bid of
the three-day sale, $122,000,
but it fell short of the
reserve and did not result in
a sale.
Other big sales included a
mint condition 1940 Ford
Deluxe Convertible which
, sold for $67,517 and a very .

Plymouth GTX convertible
that went for $57,780.
At the same time as the
car auction, in another room
was an auction of model
trains and accessories from
the Richard and Linda
Kughn Collection and Lionel
Train's famous New York
dealer "Madison Hardware."
At RM's Michigan
International Spring Classic
Car Auction, spirited bidding
resulted in sale of heavywith-muscle
1991 Ferrari
Testarossa for $63,130; a
1965 Venom Cobra two-door
for $38,788; a 1964
Chevrolet, Corvette convertible
$38,520; a Pontiac GTO
for $37,985; a 1932
Chevrolet Deluxe roadster
for $35,845; a 1969
Chevrolet Camaro SS Coupe
for $35,000; and a 1971
Dodge Charger for $33,705.
Among desirable specialinterest
cars to change
hands were a 1957
Chevrolet Bel Air two-door
for $30,388; and a very elegant
1934 Hupmobile T-427
Eight Aerodynamic Sedan
for $30,228.
For the buyer just looking
for some interesting wheels
at a good price to get him or
her into the Woodward
Dream Cruise, it would be
hard to beat a 1990 Buick
Reatta coupe which sold for
$2,782, or a 1985
Volkswagen Westfalia

One of the most interesting sales of the auction was this 1934 Hupmobile T-427 Aerodynamic sedan,
which changed hands for $30,228.

On my own personal
"shoulda-bought" list were a
1983 Buick Riviera convertible
which sold for $5,457; a
1965 Dodge Coronet convertible,
which sold for $5,778;
and, of course, the 1934 This 1987 Jaguar Vanden Plas sedan was a bargain for a buyer looking for
Hupmobile which I couldn't something unusual, changing hands for $4,404.

SUMMARY OF THE MINUTES
MAY 9, 2005
The Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Present on Roll Call: Mayor Farquhar, Counci'members Joseph, Roby, Davis 111, Thcros,
Leonard and Waldmeir.
Those Absent Were: None.
Also Present: Messrs. Burgess, City Attorney; Reeside, City Manager; Tepper, Assistant City
Manager; Modzinski, City Controller; Brennan, Director of Public Service; Ferber,
Director of Public Safety; Jensen, Deputy Director Public Safety.
Mayor Farquhar presided at the Meeting.
The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held April 4, 2005, were approved as submitted.
The Council, acting as a Zoning Board of Appeals, the appellants Mr. & Mrs. John Stroh of 118
Cloverly Road, withdrew their request.
The Council approve the request for a Class C Liquor License for Cafe NiNi located at 98
Kcrcheval Avenue; subject to certain conditions.
Following a Public Hearing, the Council adopted the General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2005-
2006.
The Council approve the following from the Consent Agenda:
a) Appointment of Historic District Commission, as follows:
William J. Hartman and John S. Snyder, each for a term of three-years.
The Council received the following Reports and ordered them placed on file:
a) Public Safety Department Report for March 2005.
b) Quarterly Financial Report, as of March 2005.
The Council adopted a resolution that immediately following adjournment of the Regular
Meeting, a Closed Session shall be held for the purpose of discussing certain litigation.
Upon proper motion made, supported and carried, the Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
