Questions That May Help You to Validate That Your Decision is “Justand Reasonable”Having gone through all the previous steps, you may still want to validate one more timethat your decision is really “just and reasonable”, by asking yourself the followingquestions:• Would you make this decision in all similar cases?• If you feel that you cannot apply your decision to all similar cases, what might be areasonable and justifiable exception? If so, in which circumstances? Do suchcircumstances apply in the present situation? What leads you to believe that anexception might be justified in this case, but not in other situations?• Is the decision consistent with previous decisions that have been made in similarsituations in the past, and that have resulted in a positive outcome?Going through this last series of questions should enable you to be confident that youhave made the best possible decision under the circumstances, and give you additionalarguments to fully assume the consequences that may unfold when the decision isannounced or implemented.© Coaching Association of Canada, 2003 22
