Grassplentiful roads s<strong>in</strong>ce only dusty. Wea<strong>the</strong>r pleasant. Some sandy road. I watchedhalf <strong>the</strong> night.Tues. July 20 th <strong>1852</strong> Travelled 25 miles. Crossed <strong>the</strong> Owahee river and campedon it near <strong>the</strong> mouth about two miles above trad<strong>in</strong>g post at Boisse. Very goodgrass. We shot five hares today. This morn<strong>in</strong>g we left <strong>the</strong> company we had beentravel<strong>in</strong>g withP61for a week past. They stopp<strong>in</strong>g on account <strong>of</strong> a sick horse. Watched our horses.Pleasant day. Dusty roads.Wed. July 21 st <strong>1852</strong>. Travelled 18 miles. Two <strong>of</strong> our wagon tires came <strong>of</strong>f andwe stopped <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> afternoon to soak our wheels. Camped on a large creek. Grasstolerable. Pleasant wea<strong>the</strong>r Roads good. Had a clam soup for supper. Watchedour horses.Thurs. July 22 nd <strong>1852</strong> We drove 12 miles and came to a sulphur spr<strong>in</strong>g wherewasP62a little poor water. But little grass. Traveled 27 miles camped on Snake river.Poor grass. Pleasant wea<strong>the</strong>r w<strong>in</strong>dy wea<strong>the</strong>r <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> night watched our horses.Fri July 23 rd <strong>1852</strong> Today we had very rough hilly roads. Traveled [sluro.] upBurnt river valley. Camped on Burnt river and had good spr<strong>in</strong>g water. Goodgrass. Left Snake river this morn<strong>in</strong>g and shall see it no more w<strong>in</strong>dy <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> night.Went 18 miles. The valley is crooked and narrow and on each side are highsteep mounta<strong>in</strong>s.P63Sat. July 24 th <strong>1852</strong> The forenoon we had rough and hilly roads. Afternoon verygood roads but dusty. Left Burnt river at noon. Camp on a small creek. Had gooddry Bunch grass.
