From the Pastor
DEAR FAMILY OF ASCENSION,
Summer Greetings!
In your good name and mine, I welcome Fr. Gnanasekaram to our
parish this weekend. Fr. Frank is joining us as part of the
Archdiocesan annual Summer Mission Appeal of behalf of the
Diocese of Mannar, Sri Lanka. Currently, Fr. Frank is an Associate
Pastor at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in New York. Welcome,
Fr. Frank, to our Parish Family of Ascension.
I would like to welcome and thank our newest Ministers of our
Parish, GREETERS. They had their first meeting last Sunday.
Thanks to all of you for coming forward for this Hospitality
Ministry. It is much appreciated and your ministry will greatly
benefit our weekend guests. I thank you and our Stewardship Team
for initiating this effort.
I thank Bill Skalitzky, Bill Komala, Rich Hillengas and the painting
crew for their good, hard and tedious work at Holy Angels School.
Thanks for meeting the challenge head-on and making it happen. It
wasn’t easy work, but you did it as promised. Thanks for giving up
of a lot your time in getting it done. Thanks, everybody!
Carol Ford, Mary Stapleton and their many helpers of all ages put
together another successful Ascension PADS Summer Lunch.
Thank your for your compassion and thoughtfulness, especially in
light of the summer heat and humidity.
One of our parish families, the Mosha family, moved back to
Tanzania where they were originally from. Before they left,
Raymond came by to see me on behalf of his wife, Joyce, and their
three children to say thanks for ALL that Ascension Parish did for
them since their arrival five years ago. Raymond shared that they
felt right at home very shortly after their arrival from Tanzania. He
also said they were met with such friendliness and openness, as if
they had been here for ages. Raymond and Joyce wanted me to
know how special the 600 block of Gunderson was to them and how
much they appreciated the attention and dedication that was given to
the liturgies here. I was so glad that he stopped to say good-bye, and
I really want to pass on their good words about you, Our Family of
Ascension, as your friendly and enthusiastic spirit continues inside
and outside our Church. I thank you! May God bless you ALL for
your continuing good works!!
