Father <strong>School</strong>: S tep by StepManagers <strong>of</strong> Ukrainian Father <strong>School</strong> visiting St. Petersburg Father <strong>School</strong>Expected Results <strong>of</strong> Implementing the Program; Social Effectiveness:• decrease divorce risk factors that lead to family disruption;• prevent asocial behavior <strong>of</strong> young men in families;• promote socially important men’s functions for preserving families and supporting responsiblefatherhood;• raise the level <strong>of</strong> legal culture in parents.Program Implementation:• the Program is implemented by specialists <strong>of</strong> Northern Way St. Petersburg Public Organization for SocialSupport, the district group manager and volunteers;• the program delivery is monitored by the Sector for Family and Childhood Protection <strong>of</strong> the SocialSecurity Department <strong>of</strong> the St. Petersburg district administration;• intermediate and final outcomes <strong>of</strong> Program’s implementation are discussed at meetings <strong>of</strong> theMethodology Council and during Father <strong>School</strong>.ru council meetings.Program JustificationThe Dad for Real school for new fathers is established under the 2009 Father <strong>School</strong>.ru Program <strong>of</strong>the Northern Way St. Petersburg Public Organization for Social Support and according to the 2009 ActionPlan aimed at realizing the Concept <strong>of</strong> St. Petersburg Demographic Development up to 2015 <strong>of</strong> the districtadministration. Establishing the district Father <strong>School</strong> was included into the Action Plan for 2009.The project is innovative as it involves a practical use <strong>of</strong> gender-sensitive techniques to work withmen. Group work with new and expectant fathers is organized only by men (who are themselves fathersand raise their children).96
