On Wednesday, Steve connected two scanners in Leslie Ashby’s office in the testing / scanning room at Admin. He
did this as a final step of completing the transition to Eduphoria Aware. Leslie was then able to scan the CBAs for Lee
and GCM’s Biology, Physics and Chemistry finals. As of Friday, all CBAs were scanned and instantly loaded into
Eduphoria. There are no open issues! Thank you Steve
K‐12 Educational Technology Plan 2011‐2015 – Upgrades for 2012
Louise managed the purchases for the Libraries and 6 th Grade Social Studies 1:1 initiative, which was approved at the
May 29 th Board meeting for $1,151,457. She completed researching vendors and cost comparisons, and secured quotes
and pricing for the Bretford projector carts with 25 foot surge protectors, document cameras, netbooks (Lenovo X130e),
Bretford netbook charging carts, sidekick chargers, sidekick batteries and Microsoft Office licenses. Matt supported her
by making sure the correct components and configurations were quoted. As Louise secured pricing, Cindy entered the
requisitions. Currently we have $14,120.00 savings after these items were ordered, with 90% of the dollars being spent.
Items left to be ordered are the laptops for the presentation stations, wireless access points, and the desktops for the
Libraries at Sterling and Lee. Thank you Louise, Cindy, and Matt
Co‐Instruction with 5 th Grade Core Teachers to Integrate Technology into Current Lessons (Board Goal 4.c.3)
Robyn facilitated a culminating project for 5th graders at San Jacinto. Students presented their individually created
electronic graphic novels for a myth he/she wrote. Students also shared an electronic self‐reflection with all of his/her
technology skills learned this year then showed his/her first PowerPoint. One of the 5th graders said, "I can't show that
it's HORRIBLE!" The lesson pointed out the progress they've made this year. Like any self‐reflection done in isolation
one doesn't see progress unless there is something to compare it to. Needless to say they were happy with the progress.
Thank you Robyn
Technology Rich Lessons in the Library that Enhance Current Lessons in the Core Content Areas (Board Goal 4.c.5)
Library Technology Planning for 2012‐2013
On Thursday, Suzy led Librarians in an end of year meeting. She gave an elaborate presentation highlighting the
accomplishments this year, Board goals, technology upgrades, trainings, and plans for next year. She went through the
April 30, 2012 Board presentation, with the audio, so Librarians could see and hear the full conversation about the Board
of Trustees commitment to the library program. It was very effective. Afterwards, Librarians identified areas for
improvement and set forth plans for next year. Thank you Suzy
Library Website Training
Suzy met with a subgroup of librarians on Friday for website training. The campus librarians will be given the
opportunity to work on their library websites. Upon return in the fall, all librarians will receive training covering library
website required components. Robyn also participated in the training. Afterwards she began planning with several
Librarians for initiating Edmodo book clubs for 2012‐2013 school year. Thank you Suzy and Robyn
Secondary Technology Integration Support with Core Coordinators and Teachers (Board Goal 4.d.6)
Wednesday, Mary met with the junior high mathematics team to plan for how best to integrate technology into summer
school. Mary created several PowerPoints to go with the Process Problem Solving assignment. This way the students can
work the problems on an interactive whiteboard and get feedback via the PowerPoint. The plan is to keep the students
engaged and give as much immediate feedback as possible. Thank you Mary
