Report unanimously approved (25 votes)Secretary-<strong>General</strong>’s ReportRTB went through his report, point by point:- PublicationsHe said that <strong>the</strong> proceedings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> seminars in Dakar and Addis Ababa had been put on line (seehttp://www.aica-int.org/spip.php?rubrique257). The Bureau now proposed publishing a selection only <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>papers given at all three seminars in Africa (Cape Town, being <strong>the</strong> most recent <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m) in hard copy, in asingle volume. At present, it looked as if finances would only permit <strong>the</strong> publication <strong>of</strong> a French languageedition, but an English edition might eventually be possible, with <strong>the</strong> help <strong>of</strong> Sajid Rizvi and Saffron Press.The proceedings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> seminars organised within <strong>the</strong> framework <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> European Exhibition <strong>of</strong> Young Artists(EEYA) would now be published in French, with <strong>the</strong> active support <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Bourges,where RTB himself was employed.- EEYA<strong>AICA</strong>’s application to <strong>the</strong> EU for a grant had been unsuccessful, so it had been necessary to look for grantsfrom a wide variety <strong>of</strong> ‘regional’ and o<strong>the</strong>r funding agencies. The exhibition would receive its first showing at<strong>the</strong> Centrale Electrique, in Brussels. Efi Strousa had just e-mailed to him <strong>the</strong> welcome news that it could <strong>the</strong>ngo on to <strong>the</strong> State Museum in Thessaloniki. This had come at a good moment and streng<strong>the</strong>ned his resolve tosee <strong>the</strong> project through.– Cape Town<strong>AICA</strong> had now secured <strong>the</strong> necessary funding, to be able to go ahead with this joint project with VANSA,thanks also to <strong>the</strong> support <strong>of</strong> UNESCO, Africalia, <strong>the</strong> Prince Claus Fund and AMA (Art Moves Africa). RTBcommented that invitations to take part in this seminar had been sent out, as a priority, to colleagues in Africa(Zimbabwe, Angola, Namibia, Mozambique, Egypt, Morocco, Ivory Coast and, <strong>of</strong> course, South Africa itself).- New <strong>AICA</strong> CardThe question <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> card’s design had been discussed at <strong>the</strong> previous Administrative Council meeting. Thenew cards had just been distributed to colleagues in Latin America and would be sent out to <strong>the</strong> Sectionsimmediately after <strong>the</strong> Congress.The mention <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> word ‘Press’ had been made more prominent on <strong>the</strong> card, to assist members with securingpreferential consideration. A letter had also been drafted, for sending to institutions that might need to be keptinformed. This would shortly be made available on <strong>the</strong> website. (See http://www.aicaint.org/spip.php?article691)- Anne-Claude Morice’s Maternity LeaveAnne-Claude Morice had been unable to attend <strong>the</strong> Congress, because she was pregnant and unable totravel. RTB thanked her for her excellent work and reminded colleagues <strong>of</strong> her great commitment andefficiency. In a similar vein, he expressed warm thanks to Alexandra Gillet et Akiko Issaverdens for <strong>the</strong>ircommitment and support.- ElectionsRTB said that he would address this item under ‘Varia’.RTB expressed his warm thanks to Lisbeth Rebollo Gonçalves and her team for <strong>the</strong>ir organisation and for <strong>the</strong>quality <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> programme <strong>the</strong>y had prepared for <strong>the</strong> Congress, which had been very well received.VOTE. She also extended herheartfelt thanks to Anne-Claude Morice - <strong>the</strong> person, she said, who did most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Treasurer’s work – and toAlexandra Gillet and Akiko Issaverdens. She presented <strong>the</strong> outturn for 2006 and <strong>the</strong> provisional budget for2008, in which she outlined two different options for coping with Anne-Claude Morice’s replacement.
