<strong>Northrop</strong> <strong>Grumman</strong> Retirement Plan<strong>Part</strong> A Benefit DescriptionJanuary 2008Early RetirementEligibility for Early RetirementYou are eligible for a <strong>Part</strong> A early retirement benefit if you s<strong>to</strong>p accruing service under <strong>the</strong> Planafter your 55th birthday and you have at least 10 years of early retirement eligibility service.Your early retirement date can be <strong>the</strong> first day of any month coincident with or following <strong>the</strong>date you become eligible, subject <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> rules described in “Applying for Your Benefit.”Special Layoff RuleIf you are laid off prior <strong>to</strong> meeting <strong>the</strong> early retirement eligibility requirements describedabove, you are eligible for an early retirement benefit at age 55 or later if you commenceyour benefit while on layoff status and you meet ei<strong>the</strong>r of <strong>the</strong> following requirements:1. Your age on <strong>the</strong> first of <strong>the</strong> month coincident with or following <strong>the</strong> layoff date plus youryears of points service (see “Early Retirement Eligibility Service” in <strong>the</strong> “ImportantPension Concepts” section) on your layoff date equals or exceeds 75; or2. You are at least age 53 and you have 10 years of early retirement eligibility service(explained above) on your layoff date.Benefit Amount for Early RetirementIf you elect <strong>to</strong> begin receiving your benefit before age 65 and have terminated after meeting<strong>the</strong> early retirement eligibility requirements described above, your early retirement benefit isdetermined as a normal retirement benefit and <strong>the</strong>n is reduced <strong>to</strong> a percentage of thatamount as shown in <strong>the</strong> table below.
