ְְְְֹֹֹֹֹֹֹֹֹֹּּּּּּּּּּּּּׁׁׁLECHA DODIThis prayer was written by Kabbalist Rav Shlomo Elkabetz, and contains ten verses that connect us to the entire Ten Sefirot—the transmitters by whichthe Light of God animates our universe—including our souls. During the week, we encounter many challenges and opportunities that may disrupt andmisalign these ten energy forces on both a personal and universal level. The level of disruption is based on our individual and collective actions.Consequently, the levels of energy in the world and in our soul can become disordered and in disarray. On a personal level this can manifest inoverreacting and anger to situations to which we would normally respond with restraint and patience. Each of the ten verses in Lecha Dodi adjusts eachlevel of the Ten Sefirot, rearranging them into their correct positions in the universe. For example, an 8-ounce glass cannot contain ten ounces of water. The glass would need to be enlarged. When wereceive the extra soul, this enlarges our soul, thereby, increasing its overall capacity to receive the additional Light of Shabbat. This is a goldenopportunity to join our souls through the Light of Shabbat, with the Light of the Creator. We learn from this verse, that to maximize our connection, weare supposed to treat the energy of Shabbat like a bride. After a man has been married for twenty years, he usually does not have the same feeling,passion, longing, and anticipation that he first had when his wife was still a bride, just a few brief moments before their wedding ceremony.You should meditate to elevate the World of Yetzirah (which means: Malchut is elevated to Netzach, Hod, Yesod, then Netzach, Hod, Yesod areelevated to Chesed, Gevurah, Tiferet, then Chesed, Gevurah, Tiferet are elevated to Chochmah, Binah, Da'at, and thenChochmah, Binah, Da'at, are elevated to Netzach, Hod, Yesod of Beriah.)
