Message from the Minister for <strong>Water</strong>Western Australia is at the forefront of waterinnovation and management. It is vital that we keepstriving for innovation because we face a challengingperiod ahead.Our state is experiencing rapid development andpopulation growth, while facing the challenges of adrying climate, declining rainfall and an increasingdemand for water.The <strong>Australian</strong> <strong>Water</strong> <strong>Association</strong> <strong>WA</strong> <strong>Water</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> celebrate theoutstanding achievements of organisations and individuals who areworking to improve water management and find solutions to water-relatedissues.The State Government, through the Department of <strong>Water</strong> and the <strong>Water</strong>Corporation, takes a lead role in managing the availability, quality anddelivery of water supported by the enormous contributions of a range ofother groups.The water management and innovation efforts of industry, individuals,local governments, schools and community groups are vital to thegovernment’s plan to ensure all West <strong>Australian</strong>s have a reliable long-termwater supply, now and in the future.By recognising the achievements of groups and individuals, the <strong>WA</strong> <strong>Water</strong><strong>Awards</strong> demonstrate that sustainable water use is a collaborative effortand highlight the importance of working together to develop solutions andimprove water management.The <strong>WA</strong> <strong>Water</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> provide a unique opportunity to celebrate theexcellent work being done in water management around the state.Please help us recognise these efforts by nominating for the <strong>WA</strong> <strong>Water</strong><strong>Awards</strong> those organisations and individuals who have made anexceptional contribution to improving water use and management inWestern Australia.By working together, we can all contribute to securing our state’s waterfuture.Hon Bill Marmion MLA, Minister for <strong>Water</strong>Message from the <strong>WA</strong> Branch PresidentThe Annual <strong>Water</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> are the highlight of the <strong>WA</strong>calendar, recognising outstanding achievements andcontributions in the water industry in WesternAustralia, by both individuals and organisations.The A<strong>WA</strong> is supported by both the <strong>Water</strong> Corporationand the Department of <strong>Water</strong> to ensure that theawards cover the whole of the water cycle and giverecognition to <strong>Water</strong>wise schools and businesses.An important aspect of the <strong>Water</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> is that entries are received fromurban, regional and rural areas and it will be especially important toshowcase the outstanding work carried out across the State as wecelebrate 40 years of the A<strong>WA</strong> in <strong>WA</strong> and 50 years nationally.Help us to recognise these contributions by nominating yourself, yourorganisation or someone else.
