TStandTogether or Fall Alone!<strong>The</strong> Conservative governmentbegan announcing cuts to Canada’supcoming federal budget in January.From pensioners to the CanadianForces, from the Canadian BroadcastingCorporation (CBC) to the almost20,000 public sector workers whosejobs were eliminated, every Canadianfelt the effects. On March 1st, the PublicService Alliance of Canada (PSAC)staged nation-wide lunch time walkoutsand asked for support from sisterunions. Across the country, the <strong>IA</strong>answered the call!OttawaNational Workers Memorial at the NLC<strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> International Officers,Trustees and Representatives attendeda three-day Educationtraining session on the campus ofthe National Labor College in SilverSpring, Maryland, April 17-19,<strong>2012</strong>. <strong>The</strong> attendees were also ableto visit the National Workers Memorial.This Memorial, which wasconstructed in the Spring of 2009,is the only national monumentfor those killed on the job. Placedthroughout are granite benchesmemorializing those who havedied because of workplace injuryor illness.<strong>The</strong> <strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> became a sponsorearlier this year anddedicated this bench inhonor and remembrance ofour fallen <strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> members.Martin Luther King Labor BreakfastLos Angeles County Federation of Labor AFL-CIOOn Thursday, January 12, <strong>2012</strong>, a Martin Luther King Breakfast, hosted by the Los Angeles County Federation ofLabor, was held at the IBEW Training facility in the city of Commerce, CA. <strong>The</strong> <strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> had good participation from variouslocal unions and their involvement helped bring the entire labor community together.WinnipegCalgaryTorontoVancouver – Site for District 12 MeetingDelegates gathered inVancouver for the District12 Meeting on March 9-11,<strong>2012</strong>.
