He further explained thatthrough effective organizing in Stagecraft,the <strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> will be better able tobeat back the threat posed by nonunionemployers. Bringing Stagecraftand Organizing together will make iteasier to create a unified mission forStagecraft going forward.<strong>The</strong>refore, effective June 4, <strong>2012</strong>,the Organizing Division will be foldedinto the Stagecraft Division.<strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> Division of Educationand TrainingPresident Loeb noted that in additionto organizing, education andtraining have been major priorities ofhis administration, as evidenced bythe development of ICAP, the TrainingTrust, LEAP and other leadership educationopportunities. He also referredto educational seminars for <strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> staffand members, which are presentedat meetings of the General ExecutiveBoard, workshops for Delegates/Officers/Membersat District Conventions,as well as annual <strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> staff training.President Loeb explained that thetraining and workshops have beenwell-received by the members and officersbut the current pieces need tobe better coordinated. He noted thatthere needs to be one division that isin charge of all the moving parts thatcurrently make up the International’seducation and training initiatives.President Loeb, therefore, advisedthe Board that effective June 4, <strong>2012</strong>,he would establish the <strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> Divisionof Education and Training, and that hewould appoint International RepresentativePatricia A. White as the Directorof the Division.KRAVIS CENTERPresident Loeb reminded the Boardof the agreement that was reported onat its mid-Winter meeting in Atlanta,Georgia, the week of January 27, <strong>2012</strong>.At that time, officers of Florida <strong>Local</strong> <strong>No</strong>.500 appeared before the Board withVice President/Co-Director of StagecraftBrian J. Lawlor, General Counsel DaleShort and In-House Counsel SamanthaDulaney, and reported that aftertwelve years of acrimonious relationsbetween the <strong>Local</strong> and the Kravis Center,the <strong>Local</strong> requested assistance fromthe International and granted PresidentLoeb complete authority to negotiate acontract and settlement with Kravis for<strong>Local</strong> 500.A final agreement was reachedshortly after the Atlanta Board meeting,however, counsel and managementof the Kravis Center refused tosign the agreement and reneged onthe deal.<strong>The</strong> International’s and <strong>Local</strong>’slegal counsel continue to battle itout with the Kravis Center. PresidentLoeb promised to keep fighting andto do whatever is necessary to get theKravis Center to comply with directivespreviously handed down by theNLRB and the federal courts, and toexecute the agreed upon settlementand contract.OTHER BUSINESSPresident Loeb noted there havebeen a series of negotiations in thearea of motion picture and televisionproduction. <strong>The</strong> first negotiationstook place in March between the Internationaland the AMPTP for the BasicAgreement and after a number ofchallenges that extended negotiationsto nearly three-and-a-half weeks, atentative agreement was reached. <strong>The</strong>agreement is now in the ratificationprocess.President Loeb also advised theBoard that negotiations had beenscheduled with the AMPTP for theArea Standards Agreement. Whilenegotiations were scheduled to takeplace over a period of four days duringthe week of May 21st, after thesecond day at the table with the employerrepresentatives, negotiationsbroke off. Negotiations will resume ata date yet to be determined.It was also noted that negotiationsbetween New York Studio Mechanics<strong>Local</strong> 52 and the Majors have also begunbut have not yet concluded.President Loeb remarked that the<strong>IA</strong><strong>TSE</strong> provides these and other employerswith nothing less than thebest skilled and professional craftspeoplein the world, that turn outproduct second to none and it wastime for the employers to recognizeand acknowledge this by giving seriousattention to our bargaining proposals.ADJOURNMENTHaving completed all businessproperly brought before the Board,this Special meeting and teleconferencewas adjourned at 11:04 a.m.Registration easy, is easy, and and best best of all of all it’s it’s FREE!
