Ultramicroelectrodes in "Electrochemical Methods in Synthesis”, 1991-92 (M. Sc. course onChemical Engineering/Applied Chemistry, I.S.T.).6. MAIN RESEARCH AREAS AND METHODSGENERAL AREAS• Bioinorganic, Inorganic, Analytic, Coordination, Organometallic and Organic Chemistries.• Molecular Electrochemistry.SPECIFIC AREAS Activation of small molecules with biological, industrial or environmental interest or related ones(such as alkanes, alkynes, phosphaalkynes, isocyanides, dinitrogen, nitriles, cyanamides, nitricoxide, oximes, olefins, azides, cyanates, etc.) by transition metal centers.Crystal engineering of coordination compounds, self-assembly of polynuclear and supramolecularstructures, transition metal and organometallic chemistries. Molecular Electrochemistry of coordination and organic compounds, namely towardsapplications in electrosynthesis, electrocatalysis and in mechanistic studies, as well as in theestablishment of potential-structure relationships, and in the induction of chemical reactivity byelectron-transfer. Mechanisms of fast chemical or electrochemical reactions. Conventional molecular electrochemistry (e.g. cyclic voltammetry, controlled potentialelectrolysis). Unconventional molecular electrochemistry (use of ultramicroelectrodes in fast voltammetry, thedevelopment and use of digital simulation methods in cyclic voltammetry and their application tomechanistic studies of electrode processes involving fast reactions induced by electron-transfer,in electrocatalysis, etc.). stopped-flow spectrophotometry. mass spectrometry (including fast atom bombardment, FAB-MS) and its coupling to gaschromatography(GC-MS) .
