Judaica Shop Gets
Makeover
If you haven’t stopped by the
Judaica Shop lately, put it on your
“to do” list. Sisterhood volunteers
Ina Hankin and Carol Gruverman
were recently recruited to bring
new browsing and buying “traffic”
into the shop and the makeover
is amazing. Their combined 40
years experience in the customdesign
gift basket and gift
wrapping business are serving
the pair well as they refresh the
look of the shop by reordering
and restocking the shelves
with an exciting high-end, yet
unbeatably priced inventory that
includes hand-signed pieces and
religious articles to treasure.
Temple Beth El’s Judaica Shop,
ideally situated opposite the
Starkoff Chapel on TBE’s Main
Campus, has long been providing
the membership with a unique
selection of gifts, ritual items and
books. A fundraising initiative of
the Sisterhood of TBE’s Women
of Reform Judaism (WRJ), the
Judaica shop at TBE is operated
by Sisterhood members.
“It is so important that temple
members support the Sisterhood
and its mission,” said Hankin.
“Buying from TBE’s Judaica Shop
is a fun and wonderful way to
show such support. Why search
other stores, when the best
collections at the best prices are
right here!”
Hankin has been a member of
TBE since moving to Boca Raton
from Philadelphia in 1979. She
and her husband George have
raised their three children, now
grown, with strong Jewish values.
Daughter Marcy Schultz is TBE’s
Assistant Director of Jewish
Learning and Living. Hankin
has supported the temple as a
board member, youth advisor and
committee leader. Her artistic
flair has driven Hankin to take
numerous courses in hand crafts
and design. When Hankin met
Gruverman, then the owner of
the store Baskets and Bears in the
Garden Shops at Boca, the two
immediately bonded personally
and shortly thereafter as business
partners.
Although new to TBE,
Gruverman has lived in
Florida for more than 40 years.
Gruverman, a widow, is a mother
of three grown children. She is a
former paramedic and currently
works part time as a dental
hygienist in Boynton Beach.
Throughout her life, Gruverman
has expressed her creative side.

She studied art at the famous
Pratt Institute in New York and is
an experienced calligrapher. The
team of Hankin and Gruverman
ran Baskets and Bears and
then switched gears slightly to
launch several related businesses
including their outside the box
gift wrapping company called
“Impressive Presentations.”
“Ina and I have put aside our
own business ventures so that
as volunteers we can help bring
the TBE Judaica Shop to the next
level, “ said Gruverman. “We are
eager to introduce the shop’s
new merchandise to congregants
and to the outside community as
well. The 20 percent discount on
every item in the store is sure to
be a crowd pleaser. TBE’s prices
are the best of any Judaica store
in the area.”
