She cut her teethon politics in the Congress of South African Students (COSAS) while still at school and also servedin the ANC Youth League structures in the Eastern Cape.Losi trained as a soldier and served in the South African Defence Force for three years. In the same year, Losi became a National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA)shop steward at the plant. She also served on various NUMSA committees such as Finance and Education in the EasternCape region. As a senior leader of COSATU, Losi is acutely aware of the challenges facing the organisation. Her focus is on buildinga strong federation, with shop stewards and leaders who are clear about COSATU’s mandate. She believes that strongbranches and affiliates are needed to achieve this and women are needed to swell the ranks of the federation’s leadership, not for the purposes of achieving gender equity, but for the transformation of the broader society.Losi has a passion for drawing, something that now is going to take a back seat as she immerses herself in the federation’swork. Apart from drawing, she enjoys spending quality time with her family.17
