2013-14 The<strong>me</strong>:<strong>What</strong> <strong>Patriotism</strong> <strong>Means</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>me</strong>.<strong>What</strong> are the rules?• Essay length: 300-400 typewritten words.• You must write your own essay.• All essays should be typewritten in English withno color or graphics and cannot be less than 300words or greater than 400 words in length.(Essays under or over these word amounts will beeliminated.) Every word is counted regardless <strong>of</strong>length. The essay title (the<strong>me</strong>) or added footnotesdo not contribute <strong>to</strong> the word count.Deadline—The completed essay and entry form must be in thehands <strong>of</strong> the VFW Post Chairman by midnight onNov. 1, 2013.In no way may contestants identify themselveswithin their essay. Do not put your na<strong>me</strong> on youressay. The entry form is your essay’s cover sheet.Secure the Official Student Entry Form with a stapleor other fastener on <strong>to</strong>p <strong>of</strong> your essay.
