Twilight Paddle on the CanalExplore the North Shore Channel by canoe along McCormick Street asnighttime falls on a spring evening. The canal supports an amazing varietyof life, and the high banks will make you feel like you’re a million miles awayfrom the city! A basic instructional course will be given, so beginners arewelcome. Dress for the outdoors and wear closed shoes. Participants areresponsible for their own transportation to and from the Rowing Center.A map and equipment list will be mailed prior to the trip. Our tripwill conclude at Mettawa Manor with its variety of gardens, intriguingarchitectural elements, and extensive prairie and woodland. Please note,since these properties cover many acres, expect to do quite a bit of walking!242452-02 Su 7/28 9A-5P $36/$45Boundary Waters Wilderness Canoe TripLocated in northern Minnesota, the Boundary Waters is a roadless area setaside for canoe campers who want to experience the mystery, solitude,and rugged beauty of a true wilderness. The hundreds of lakes and miles offorested shoreline are home to moose, bear, eagles, otters and wolves. Ourtrip includes five days of canoeing. We’ll set up tents in primitive campsiteseach night, cook meals over a camp stove and portage our gear aroundwaterfalls and rapids. Tents, sleeping bags, canoes, cook gear and food willbe provided. Bunk house lodging and showers the night before and after thecanoe trip, as well as transportation by van, are also included. Participantsmust be physically able to paddle a canoe and carry gear across rocky trails.Though canoeing skills will be reviewed prior to the trip, previous canoeingexperience and the ability to paddle safely and efficiently on opposite sides isrequired.
