ABE NQF examinations have been discontinued. Passes achievedin ABE NQF <strong>and</strong> earlier examinations since December 2001 have been transferred to the QCF examinations (with a few exceptions, see FAQs).Note that the ABE QCF Level 5 Diploma consists <strong>of</strong> eight units instead <strong>of</strong> nine under NQF. See ABE website for QCF syllabuses, programmestructures, FAQs <strong>and</strong> the Transition Arrangements from NQF to QCF qualifications.NQF <strong>Business</strong> Information Systems (BIS)programme• The NQF BIS examinations have been discontinued after December 2012<strong>and</strong> replaced by the Management <strong>of</strong> Information Systems (MIS) pathway.All BIS passes remain valid <strong>and</strong> can be used in place <strong>of</strong> MIS passes tocomplete the equivalent MIS qualification. Students should consult thetransition arrangements on the Members Area for further information.Level 4 Diploma progression• Students must pass at least two Level 4 Diploma units by ABE examinationbefore progressing to the Level 5 Diploma. However, all four units must bepassed (as well as all eight Level 5 Diploma units) before the Level 5 Diplomacan be awarded.Level 5 Diploma progression• Students must pass at least six units in the Level 5 Diploma to proceed tothe Level 6 Diploma. However, all eight units in the Level 5 Diploma mustbe passed (as well as all five Level 6 Diploma units) before the Level 6Diploma can be awarded.Level 6 Diploma progression• Students must pass at least four units in the Level 6 Diploma to proceed tothe Level 7 Diploma. However, all five units in the Level 6 Diploma must bepassed (as well as all five Level 7 Diploma units) before the Level 7 Diplomacan be awarded.Unit (subject) entries• There is no limit to the number <strong>of</strong> units for which c<strong>and</strong>idates may enter.Do not enter for units whose times clash, as the timetable cannot berescheduled.Notification slip• A notification slip will be sent to all c<strong>and</strong>idates approximately two weeksbefore the start <strong>of</strong> examinations. If you do not receive your notification slip,you should print one from the ABE Members Area on the ABE website (seebelow) or request a copy from the ABE <strong>of</strong>fice at least one week before thestart <strong>of</strong> the examinations.You must take the notification slip to every examination you sit.Transfers• C<strong>and</strong>idates may transfer their examination entry to the next session,June 2014, providing the transfer request with £15 transfer fee isreceived by Monday 11 November 2013. The transfer cannot apply to anyunit(s) other than the original entry.Non attendance• Examination fees are not refundable. If a c<strong>and</strong>idate fails to attend anexamination, the examination fee cannot be refunded.• In the event <strong>of</strong> illness, <strong>and</strong> <strong>up</strong>on receipt <strong>of</strong> a medical certificate<strong>and</strong> transfer fee <strong>of</strong> £15 by Thursday 2 January 2014, the unit(s)will be transferred to the next examination session, June 2014.Transfers will not be accepted without payment <strong>of</strong> the £15 fee.Access arrangements(Reasonable Adjustments)• To meet its commitment to equality <strong>of</strong> opportunity, ABE will, as far as isreasonably practical, endeavour to ensure access for people <strong>of</strong> all abilities,irrespective <strong>of</strong> physical capacity, in order that all c<strong>and</strong>idates receive thesame level <strong>of</strong> service <strong>and</strong> opportunity. Repeated breachesmay lead to termination <strong>of</strong> membership <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Association</strong>.• A c<strong>and</strong>idate must not communicate or collude in any way with anotherc<strong>and</strong>idate or any other person (except an invigilator) during the examination<strong>and</strong> must not disturb other c<strong>and</strong>idates.• C<strong>and</strong>idates are not allowed to use mobile phones or similar devices for anycommunication during the examination. Mobile phones or similar devicesmust not be used as calculators. Such use will result in the cancellation <strong>of</strong>ALL scripts from that examination session (ABE regards an examinationsession as the whole week <strong>of</strong> the examination).• C<strong>and</strong>idates are not allowed to have on their examination desk: books, datatables, notes, paper, dictionaries (including bi-lingual or electronic) or anyother written material (even if it does not relate to the examination beingsat), EXCEPT where text books <strong>and</strong> notes are allowed <strong>and</strong> this is stated onthe question paper. The possession <strong>of</strong> such material during the examinationwill result in disqualification from the examination.• C<strong>and</strong>idates who fail to comply with the ABE Examination Regulations (Conductduring the Examinations) will be disqualified, immediately expelled from theexamination <strong>and</strong> all their examination script(s) from that session will be cancelled.Notification <strong>of</strong> results•Qualification titlesThe titles <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> our qualifications have changed. Students registered beforeJanuary 2013 will be able to complete their current level with the previous titles(Higher, Graduate, Graduate Integrated as applicable), but thereafter mustprogress to the new title. Students registered after December 2012 will beawarded the new titles.
