<strong>Human</strong> <strong>Resource</strong> <strong>Management</strong> (HRM)CertificateCompulsory units– Introduction to <strong>Business</strong>– Introduction to <strong>Business</strong> Communication– Managing People– Personnel AdministrationThe Certificate gives you a solid basis inpersonnel administration. Typical jobs forCertificate holders are working in a Personnelor HRM department.Available part-time and full-time.No previous qualifications are needed toenter the Certificate but entrants should becompetent in English and mathematics up toGCSE level (NQF level 2).Personal developmentAs your education with ABE progresses, youmay discover new interests and aftercompleting the HRM programme, decide tospecialise in an additional programme, forexample <strong>Business</strong> <strong>Management</strong> (BM). You willbe credited with your passes in the HRMprogramme which are also common to theBM programme and you will simply enter forthe remaining subjects in the BM programmein the next exams. Similarly, having completedthe BM (or other) programme you can enterfor the HRM programme. You will betransferred automatically to the newprogramme when you make the exam entry.Please remember that you must pass all therequired subjects to complete a qualification.To enter for the HRM Advanced Diploma youmust have already completed the HRMDiploma – the same rule applies to otherprogrammes (please see the syllabus forconditions). An ideallevel if you are already in the HR sector andare seeking progression. Typical jobs forDiploma holders include Asst PersonnelManager and Asst HR Manager. Diplomaholders can also get exemptions from units <strong>of</strong>many Bachelors degree programmes.Available part-time and full-time.To enter the Diploma you must havecompleted the ABE Certificate (in anyprogramme) or have two GCE A-Levels andfour GCSEs at Grade C or above, or possessa BTEC National award or equivalent NQFlevel 3 qualification. Students with at least twoyears’ work experience can also apply, evenwithout any <strong>of</strong> the above qualifications.<strong>Business</strong> Administration examinationpasses achieved before December 2007remain valid and will be granted automaticcredit transfers (no application needed) forcommon units on the HRM programme,Advanced DiplomaCompulsory units– Corporate Strategy and Planning– Managing in Organisations– Strategic <strong>Human</strong> <strong>Resource</strong> <strong>Management</strong> for<strong>Business</strong> Organisation– Managing Organisational Change andDevelopment– Performance <strong>Management</strong> and RewardThe Advanced Diploma focuses on strategicareas <strong>of</strong> HRM. Typical jobs for AdvancedDiploma holders include Personnel Managerand HR Manager.
