Auckland MRF – Key FactsInnovative and Forward-looking:The Auckland MRF has the capacity to process recyclables fromother regions and the modular design allows for a straightforwardupgrade to double the original capacity.Site Area and Operation:Occupies 3.6ha of a 10ha site and it is growing . The addition of anew glass plant in 2010 allowed 120,000 tonnes of glass to be recycled per annum.The land is owned by the Auckland City Council and the MRF was constructed in2007/2008 and began operations on 30 th June 2008. The MRF operates 24 hours 5 days aweek.Recycling Capacity:Current market volumes the MRF processes 85,000 tonnes or 500,000 cubic meters perannum. The operation has the future capacity to process up to 160,000 tonnes ofrecyclables a year.
