Implats employs some 55 900(including contractors) people across its operations and plans toachieve production of 2.3 million ounces of platinum by 2012.Major consumers of platinum are the automobile and jewellerysectors, which together account for about 75% of total demand.As an employerThe group has extensive operations on the two most significantPGM deposits in the world, namely the Bushveld Complex inSouth Africa, and the Great Dyke in Zimbabwe.MAJOR OPERATING UNITS IN SOUTH AFRICA INCLUDE:• IMPALA PLATINUM accounts for around 60% of Implats’ totalproduction and approximately three quarters of net profit.Impala Platinum’s mining operation and processing plant arebased near Rustenburg, in North West Province. The refiningoperation is based in Springs, east of Johannesburg in theprovince of Gauteng.• MARULA PLATINUM, located near Steelpoort in LimpopoProvince, is currently ramping up to full production.• TWO RIVERS, a new mining project also located on theeastern limb of the Bushveld Complex, is a 45% joint venturewith African Rainbow Minerals (ARM).OPERATING UNITS IN ZIMBABWE COMPRISE:• ZIMPLATS located to the south west of Harare, is currentlyengaged in an expansion with the development of two newunderground mines.• MIMOSA PLATINUM, a 50:50 joint venture with AquariusPlatinum Limited, is located east of Bulawayo.As one of the largest platinum mining companiesin the world, Implats offers the opportunity to joina world-class mining company.
