He was named tothe Mid-Wach A All-Star team aswell as the Central-West All-Starsquad and the Mass. State All-Stars. He helped Wachusett to a15-9 record before the Mountaineers fell to Algonquinin the Central Mass. Division 1 tournament. Hewill continue his baseball career with Eastern ConnecticutState University in the fall, and after hegraduates, he hopes to play professionally or ownhis own sports instructional facility. He enjoys playingpickup sports and hanging out with friends in hisspare time. Cammuso hit a pair of home runsagainst St. John’s, which he considers his mostmemorable sports moment. He’s the son of Pauland Cathy Cammuso of Rutland.Shane Keddy<strong>Worcester</strong> TechJunior, PitcherThe Colonial Athletic LeagueMVP, Keddy lifted the Eagles,who finished 23-2 on the season,to the Central Mass. Division 2semifinals. Keddy batted .506 with40 RBIs and posted an .802 sluggingpercentage and a .616 onbasepercentage for coach RonSilvestri. On the mound, Keddywent 9-0 with a 2.65 ERA andalong with his older brother Ryan, helped theEagles clinch the top seed in the Division 2 tournament.Keddy also earned a spot on the CentralMass. Bay State All-Star team. Keddy is also astandout defenseman on <strong>Worcester</strong>’s hockey team.His brother, Ryan, is a former T&G hockey SuperTeamer and both Keddys made the Quinn Conferenceall-star team last winter. Keddy is also a cocaptainfor <strong>Worcester</strong> Tech’s football team, startingat running back and defensive back. He is the sonof Tim and Vanessa Keddy of <strong>Worcester</strong>.Keith LandersSt. Peter-Marian HighSenior, PitcherLanders makes an incredible thirdconsecutive appearance on theT&G Super Team, helping theGuardians to the Central Mass.Division 1 title. The 6-foot-7,215-pound southpaw led the CentralMass. Conference with an 0.43 ERAand a 5-2 record as St. Peter-Marianshared the league title with HolyName. Landers dominated in thepostseason, no-hitting Marlboro in the first round in hisseven innings, and then quieting defending championand top seed Algonquin in the semifinals while strikingout <strong>13</strong> in a 1-0 win. Landers celebrated again the nextday when he was drafted in the 18th round by theBaltimore Orioles. Landers has a full scholarship waitingat the University of Louisville. Landers and his SPMteammates pitched at the Rogers Centre in Torontothis season, and his time as a Guardian supplied someof his most memorable sports moments. He’s the sonof Bill and Terry Landers of <strong>Worcester</strong>.Jon LerouxAuburn HighJunior, CatcherThe 6-foot-1, 205-pound Lerouxhelped the Rockets to the Division2 state final and hit .406 forAuburn in the regular season. Oneof the top athletes in the area,Leroux also excelled at football andbasketball for the Rockets, earningSouthern <strong>Worcester</strong> County LeagueAll-Star honors in both sports thisseason and being named OffensiveMVP of the Thanksgiving Day football game againstOxford. Leroux also was a SWCL All-Star in baseballlast year as well, and this year was named to the CentralMass. All-Star team, the Mass. State All-Star team,and is a two-year member of the Central Mass. BayState Games squad. As a freshman, Leroux helpedAuburn to the 2005 Division 2A Super Bowl, which heconsiders his most memorable sports moment. Only ajunior, Leroux hasn’t solidified any college plans, buthopes to teach and coach when he graduates. He’sthe son of Mark and Rose Leroux of Auburn.John McKennaAlgonquin RegionalJunior, Pitcher/First BaseThe 6-foot, 210-pound McKennaearned Mid-Wach A All-Starhonors and was named co-MVP ofthe league along with WachusettRegional’s Jamie Skagerlind. Duringthe regular season, McKenna went5-1 with a 3.02 ERA and batted.396 for Algonquin. A co-captain forcoach Neil Burke, McKenna alsowas named to the MetroWest DailyNews All-Star team and was selected to the MassachusettsState All-Stars. McKenna pitched a perfectgame this season at Leominster, striking out 11 BlueDevils. A three-year member of the varsity baseballteam, McKenna helped the Tomahawks to the Division1 state title in 2006, which he considers his mostmemorable sports moment. McKenna, then a freshman,pitched 3 1 ⁄3 shutout innings in the state semifinalgame against Amherst. He enjoys hanging out withfriends and watching television in his spare time. He’sthe son of Mike and Susan McKenna of Southboro.Ryan MilewskiWest Boylston HighJunior, Pitcher/ShortstopEarning Mid-Wach D MVP honors,the 5-foot-11, 160-pound Milewskihelped the Lions storm to theirfirst undefeated regular season inschool history, going 22-0 beforelosing to Hopedale in the CentralMass. Division 3 final. Including thepostseason, Milewski went 9-1 witha staggering 0.33 ERA while strikingout 91 and walking just eight. Milewskialso hit .380 with three home runs for coach ToddSmith. Milewski is a three-time Mid-Wach D All-Star andhas been on the T&G Division 3 All-Star team the pasttwo seasons. Milewski is also an excellent golfer forthe Lions, and was a league MVP the past two yearsand named team MVP last fall. He enjoys fishing andplaying the guitar in his spare time, and played on aSenior Ruth team that won the New England Regionaltournament and went to the World Series in Arkansas,which was his most memorable sports moment. He’sthe son of John and Peggy Milewski of West Boylston.Matt MorissetteLeominster HighJunior, PitcherMorissette led the Mid-Wach Awith a 7-2 record and a 1.90ERA as the Blue Devils went all theway to the Central Mass. Division 1title game. The 5-foot-11,185-pound Morissette was on themound for Leominster in that game,which he considers his most memorablesports moment. He wasnamed Leominster’s most improvedplayer this season by legendary coach Emile Johnson.The southpaw also pitched the Blue Devils to awin over Gardner High in the Central Mass. Division 1semifinals, throwing a complete game while scatteringfive hits and striking out 11. He was named to theMid-Wach A All-Star team. Morissette enjoys playingbaseball and hanging out with friends in his sparetime. He’s also one of the top pitchers this summerfor the Leominster American Legion team, Post 151.He’s the son of Gary and Donna Morissette of Leominster.Joe PiscitelliOxford HighSenior, Pitcher/First BasePiscitelli was named to the CentralMass. All-Star team as well as theMass. State All-Star team after going11-1 with a 1.50 ERA and earningtwo saves for coach Mike Daley andthe Pirates this year. The 6-foot-5,190-pound Piscitelli helped Oxfordto an 18-6 record before the Pirateslost to Auburn in the Central Mass.Division 2 final. Piscitelli also stars inbasketball for the Pirates and earned the Oxford HighCoaches Award in both sports this season. He playedtwo years of football for Oxford and was named OffensivePlayer of the Year as a junior. Piscitelli will attendAssumption College in the fall. He said being a part ofthe championship-winning Paul N. Johnson SeniorBabe Ruth team in 2007 was his most memorablesports moment. His great uncle, Bobby Curran,played on the 1947 NCAA men’s basketball championshipteam at Holy Cross. Joe is the son ofMichael and Nancy Piscitelli of Oxford.A.J. RouleauWestboro HighSenior, Shortstop/Third BaseThe 5-foot-10, 205-pound Rouleauwraps up a stellar career forcoach Scott Kittredge and the Rangers.The Mid-Wach B MVP collectedhis 100th career hit this season andhit .377 for Westboro as the Rangerswent 15-6 and won the Mid-Wach B title for the first time in eightyears, a feat Rouleau considers hismost memorable sports moment.Rouleau was named to the MetroWest Daily NewsAll-Stars and the Mass. State All-Star team. In hisfour-year career at Westboro, Rouleau hit .424 with35 doubles and 90 RBIs, all school records. He alsoset career records for at-bats (271) and hits (115) aswell as single-season records for hits (34), doubles(14) and batting average (.508). A four-year CentralMass. All-Star, Rouleau was named to the T&G Division1 All-Star team the past two years. He will attendSouthern Connecticut State University in the fall. He’sthe son of Charlie and Kelly Rouleau of Westboro.Jake SanderskiHoly Name HighSenior, Right FieldThe 5-foot-7, <strong>13</strong>0-pound Sanderskifinished second in theCentral Mass. Conference with a.534 batting average as the Napsshared the league title with St.Peter-Marian High. Sanderskihelped Holy Name to a 16-6 recordbefore falling in the Central Mass.Division 1 semifinals to LeominsterHigh. Sanderski collected two hitsand scored the winning run in a playoff win over Milford.A three-year member of the Naps’ varsity, Sanderskiwas named a captain for coach Dan McGowanthis season. Sanderski and his teammates played St.Peter-Marian at the Rogers Centre in Toronto thisyear, something he considers his most memorablesports moment. His father, John, pitched in the JuniorOlympics and was drafted in 1983 by the Boston RedSox. Sanderski will attend Salem State College in thefall. He’s the son of John Sanderski and Tina Gremoof Millbury.Jamie SkagerlindWachusett RegionalSenior, First BaseThe 5-foot-10, 185-pound Skagerlindwraps up a solid four-yearcareer at the varsity level for coachMatt Gull by leading the Mid-Wach Awith a .509 batting average andbeing named co-MVP with Algonquin’sJohn McKenna. Skagerlind isa three-time Mid-Wach A All-Starand collected 114 hits over hiscareer, four shy of the school recordand second all-time in Wachusett history. Atwo-year baseball captain, the Bryant University-boundSkagerlind also was named team MVP and earned aspot on the Central-Western All-Star team for thesecond consecutive season. His .509 average wasalso tops in all Mid-Wach leagues. Skagerlind hit awalk-off home run against Milford to give Gull his100th career win, and his 100th career hit was ahome run off McKenna, two feats he regards as hismost memorable sports moments. He’s the son ofGary and Joan Skagerlind of Holden.Michael WoodHudson HighSenior, Pitcher/First BaseThe 6-foot, 190-pound Woodwas named the Mid-Wach C’sco-MVP along with teammate MattJacobs. Also a co-captain, Woodis a two-time league all-star andwas named to the Central Mass.All-Star team after a regular seasonthat saw him post a 7-1 recordwith an 0.98 ERA as the Hawksfinished 14-8. Wood hit a two-runhomer that gave Hudson and coach Brian Davis apostseason win over David Prouty. Also a standoutfootball and basketball player for Hudson, Woodwas named the unsung hero for the Hawks on thebasketball court last winter. He enjoys playing basketballand Wiffle Ball in his spare time. Wood willattend Johnson & Wales University in the fall. Hefondly recalls pitching against Algonquin as a juniorand getting a victory over the eventual Division 1state finalists. Andrews, who went <strong>13</strong>-3with a 1.80 ERA in the regular season,pitched superbly in this year’s postseason,tossing a shutout against Drury High in thestate semifinals. The Hawks fell to Ashland inthe state title game. Andrews, who will attendStonehill College in the fall, calledwinning the 2007 Division 2 state championshipher most memorable sports moment.She’s the daughter of Darrel and LaurenAndrews of Hudson.Elyssa BorisGardner HighSenior, PitcherArepeat Super Teamselection, Boris hadanother outstanding seasonin leading Gardner toits second straight Division1 state title game appearance.She led the Mid-Wach A with an 0.33 ERAand was great in the postseason.She tossed athree-hitter against Marlboro in the CentralMass. final, and allowed just four hits in theWildcats’ state semifinal win over Amherst.She was outdueled by Lexington’s KikiSaveriano in Gardner’s heartbreaking 1-0loss in the state championship game. Boriswon 52 games in her high school career.She hit .529 this season to rank second inthe Mid-Wach A. Boris pitched a perfectgame in her first start as a freshman. Shealso played field hockey. Boris will attendUMass-Lowell and play softball there. She’sthe daughter of Chuck and Jayne Boris ofGardner.Laura BowenHudson HighSenior, ShortstopThe 5-foot-2 Bowen, afive-year player forcoach Russ Davis, earnedher third straight SuperTeam honor after batting.472 during the regularseason and leading Hudsonto its third consecutiveCentral Mass. title andDivision 2 state championshipgame appearance. Bowen, a Hawkscaptain and the team’s shortstop, wasnamed MVP of the Mid-Wach C as theHawks won the league title for the <strong>13</strong>th yearin a row. Bowen’s sister, Katie, was Hudson’sstarting right fielder. Bowen alsocaptained Hudson’s soccer and basketballteams this year, and was a Mid-Wach CAll-Star in all three sports each of the lastfour years. Bowen called winning the 2007Division 2 state title her most memorablesports moment. She will attend BryantUniversity in the fall. She’s the daughter ofLennie and Susan Bowen of Hudson.Jessie BryantMarlboro HighJunior, ShortstopThis is the first SuperTeam selection forBryant, who is alreadyMarlboro’s career leaderin hits, home runs andtriples. The Panthers’junior shortstop led theMid-Wach B with a .538batting average thisspring and helped Marlboroto the Central Mass. Division 1 final.An all-around athlete, Bryant captainedMarlboro’s soccer and basketball teamsthis year and earned Mid-Wach B All-Starhonors in both sports. Bryant had thetwo-run, go-ahead double in Marlboro’s4-3 win over archrival Hudson High, whichshe counts among her best sportsmoments. Playing at Hall of Fame Stadiumin Oklahoma with Polar Crush 18U Gold isalso among her favorite softball highlights.She’s the daughter of Denise Rudzinskyand Thomas Bryant of Marlboro.Erica CordioLeominster HighSenior, ShortstopCordio led the Mid-Wach Awith a .595 batting averageand helped the BlueDevils to an 18-4 record andan appearance in the CentralMass. Division 1 quarterfinals.Cordio served as captain ofcoach Alexis Curry’s squadfor two years and was namedto the Mid-Wach A All-Starteam for the past two seasons. Cordio had thewinning RBI single in Leominster’s thrilling, 1-0,extra-inning win over Gardner late in the season.She also played four years of varsitysoccer, captaining the Blue Devils last fall. Sheplayed one year of varsity basketball. Cordiolists playing at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahomaas her most memorable sports moment.An honor roll student at Leominster, Cordio willattend the University of Rhode Island, whereshe’ll major in education and math. She’s thedaughter of Steven and Karen Cordio of Leominster.Kayla DavisGardner HighSenior, Second BaseDavis was a clutch performerfor coach Howie Klash’steam during the Wildcats’terrific postseason run.Gardner advanced to theDivision 1 state final for thesecond straight year and won21 games. Davis hit a keytwo-run homer and drove infour runs in Gardner’s 5-3Central Mass. semifinal win over Holy Name. In aregular-season win over St. Peter-Marian, sheand sophomore Nikki Boris belted back-to-backhomers twice. She hit her first career grand slamin a win over Quabbin. A two-time Super Teamselection, Davis won last year’s Mid-Wach Bbatting title. She also played field hockey, basketballand ice hockey at Gardner. She was aT&G Division 1 All-Star in field hockey last fall.Her father, Jim, a three-sport standout atGardner, is a member of the school’s Hall ofFame. Kayla is the daughter of Jim and KimDavis of Gardner.Lynne HalleyHoly Name HighJunior, PitcherThe Naps’ ace had anotheroutstanding season, earningAll-Central Mass. Shewent 16-2 with an 0.62 ERA.A tri-captain for coach Jill Shea’s squad, Halleypitched a perfect game on April 28. She alsoplays field hockey for Holy Name and captainedthe team last fall. Halley was a T&G Division 1All-Star as a sophomore. Fishing, camping andcoaching young pitchers are among Halley’shobbies. An honor roll student at Holy Name,Halley lists playing for the Charlton Wildfire andwinning the Bash by the Bay tournament inRhode Island in 2006 as her most memorablesports moment. She was named MVP of thetourney. She’s the daughter of Mary and LarryHalley Jr. of <strong>Worcester</strong>.Lucy HigginsNotre Dame AcademySenior, CatcherHiggins hit .404 during theregular season andhelped spark Notre Dameduring its tremendous postseasonrun. The Rebels,10-10 during the regularseason and the No. 11 seedin Division 2, advanced tothe Central Mass. final.Higgins hit a home run inNDA’s wild quarterfinal win over Grafton. Shelists the Rebels’ come-from-behind win overUxbridge in the first round of the tournament asher most memorable sports moment. NotreDame scored 10 runs in the sixth inning for a14-12 win. Higgins and Tatiana Chunis had keyhits in the big inning. Higgins captained coachEd Savage’s squad and earned Central Mass.Conference All-Star honors for the third straightyear. Her interests include music and theater.She’ll attend Rider University and hopes topursue a career as a sports broadcaster. She’sthe daughter of Ted and Wendy Higgins ofWestminster.Katie JosephShepherd Hill RegionalJunior, First BaseJoseph led the Southern<strong>Worcester</strong> CountyLeague (East and West)with a .556 batting averageand helped coachTom Caffelle’s Rams tothe SWCL West title andthe quarterfinals of theCentral Mass. Division 1tournament. Joseph hadeight home runs, 53 RBIs, 82 total bases, and a1.14 slugging percentage. She received herteam’s Most Improved Player Award and wasnamed the Women in Sports Foundation MassachusettsSports Girl of the Year. Joseph alsostars for the Rams’ field hockey team andreceived the Playtex National Team Player of theMonth award last October. Joseph is also amember of the National Honor Society, Superintendent’sAdvisory Council, and SADD. She’s analtar server and enjoys snowboarding and shopping.Joseph hopes to pursue a career as anemergency room doctor. She’s the daughter ofPaul and Lauri Joseph of Dudley.Kristen MorconeMilford HighSenior, CatcherMorcone led the ScarletHawks to an undefeatedregular season(20-0), the Mid-Wach Atitle, and an appearance inthe Central Mass. Division1 semifinals. The 5-foot-4senior hit .437 and had a.519 slugging percentage,and was named the Mid-Wach A MVP. A two-year captain for coach BrianMacchi’s squad, Morcone was a T&G Division 1All-Star last season. Last winter, she helpedMilford to the Division 1 state title in volleyball. Asetter and four-year starter for the ScarletHawks, Morcone earned Mid-Wach A and stateAll-Star honors as well as a spot on the T&GAll-Star team. Morcone was a member of theNational Honor Society and served as classtreasurer for four years. Morcone enjoys playingthe trumpet in her spare time. She will attendLong Island University-C.W. Post, where she willplay softball. She’s the daughter of Fran andLenny Morcone of Milford.Katie MurrayFitchburg HighJunior, Center FieldMurray batted .551 to leadthe Red Raiders to anappearance in the CentralMass. Division 1 tournament.She was among theMid-Wach A leaders in hitswith 32. She lists among herseason highlights beatingShrewsbury and defeatingNorth Middlesex in extrainnings to clinch a spot in the Central Mass.tournament. Murray is a three-time Mid-Wach AAll-Star. She plays field hockey in the fall andalso has been a member of Fitchburg’s indoortrack and basketball teams. Her brother,Anthony, played football at Fitchburg and SaintAnselm College. She lists her most memorablesports moment as playing at Hall of Fame Stadiumin Oklahoma with the Polar Crush. She’sthe daughter of John and Kathryn Murray ofFitchburg.Lindsi PanarelliShrewsbury HighSenior, CatcherPanarelli was the Colonials’starting catcher for threeyears, and was named aMid-Wach A All-Star for thesecond consecutive seasonthis year. She providedleadership behind the plateand power while at it. Sheclubbed two home runsduring a regular-seasongame against Hudson. Panarelli served as cocaptainof coach Phil Chevalier’s squad. She listswinning the 2006 Division 1 state championshipas her most memorable sports moment. Shescored the winning run in the state semifinalsagainst Westfield that season, coming across onan RBI double by her sister, Chelsi. Panarellialso played field hockey and basketball for theColonials, and was a high honor roll student.Traveling is her favorite hobby. She will attendUMass-Lowell in the fall. She’s the daughter ofAnthony and Carolyn Panarelli of Shrewsbury.Jordan StorroLeominster HighSenior, Second BaseIt was a great comebackseason for Storro, whomissed most of her juniorseason with an injury. Shehit .561 to lead the BlueDevils to an 18-win seasonand into the quarterfinals ofthe Central Mass. Division 1tournament. Storro servedas captain of coach AlexisCurry’s squad. She got off to a great start in<strong>2008</strong>, smashing a grand slam and driving in sixruns in an early-season win over Doherty. Storroalso played soccer and basketball for the BlueDevils. She was a Mid-Wach A All-Star in soccerlast fall. An honor roll student, Storro will attendUMass in the fall and major in business. She listsplaying at Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma asher most memorable sports moment. A All-Star, Bamberger played in the<strong>2008</strong> National Senior Showcase. It was his nominationto that showcase, as well as his accepting anoffer to play lacrosse at Hudson Valley College, thatBamberger feels were his most memorable sportsmoments. Bamberger will study international businessin college. He comes from an athletic family — hisfather, Rich, played basketball at Hobart College; hismother, Patti, played field hockey at SUNY-Brockport,and his sister, Emily, is playing lacrosse, soccer andbasketball at Tantasqua Regional. He’s the son ofRich and Patti Bamberger of Brimfield.Paul GripShrewsbury HighSenior, MidfieldThe 6-foot-1, 150-pound Gripcaps a tremendous career for theColonials. A two-year captain andthree-year Central Mass. B LeagueAll-Star, Grip recorded 21 goals and24 assists this year to help coachNate Skermont and Shrewsbury tothe Central Mass. final. Although theColonials lost in overtime to Westboro,Grip did his part with countlessfeeds to teammates for postseason goals, includinga pass to teammate Alex Raposa to defeat rival St.John’s in the semifinal. It was the second time in asmany years Grip and his teammates ended the Pioneers’season in the Central Mass. tournament semifinals,which goes down as his most memorablesports moment. As a junior, he was named Shrewsbury’sMVP. Also an assistant captain in hockey forShrewsbury, Grip has played soccer and golf for theColonials. Grip will attend Babson College in the fall.He is the son of Steve and Angela Grip of Shrewsbury.Mikhael JetteShrewsbury HighSenior, MidfieldThe 5-foot-9, 165-pound Jettemakes his second consecutiveappearance on the T&G SuperTeam after captaining the Colonialsfor three years. Jette is a three-timeCentral Mass. All-Star at midfieldand was a vital cog in coach NateSkermont’s club. Jette finished theregular season with 22 goals and 14assists for Shrewsbury as the Colonialswon the Central Mass. B title with a 19-4 record— 10-0 in the league. Jette helped Shrewsbury upendperennial powerhouse St. John’s, 7-6, in overtime inthe Central Mass. tournament semifinals. It was thesecond year in a row Shrewsbury ended the Pioneers’season and it goes down as Jette’s most memorablesports moment. Jette also captained Shrewsbury’ssoccer team and enjoys skiing, fishing and golf in hisspare time. He will attend Northeastern University inthe fall. He’s the son of Eric and Emmanuelle Jette ofShrewsbury.Connor MacKenzieBromfield SchoolJunior, MidfieldMaking his first appearance onthe T&G Super Team, MacKenziecaptained the Trojans to a 16-0regular-season record before Bromfieldwas ousted in a quarterfinalgame of the Central Mass. tournamentby Algonquin. It was a tremendousfirst varsity season for Bromfield,which captured the CentralMass. C League title thanks, in part,to MacKenzie’s 35 goals and 27 assists. It was thelatest trophy to MacKenzie’s credit; he also has a pairof Division 3 state soccer titles, which the Trojans wonin 2005 and 2007. MacKenzie, who enjoys music inhis spare time, said the 2007 soccer title and the finalregular-season win over North Middlesex to cap anundefeated lacrosse season are his most memorablesports moments. Undecided on where to attend college,MacKenzie hopes to study business, finance oreconomics. He’s the son of Greg and Debbie MacKenzieof Harvard.Kevin McCannAlgonquin RegionalSenior, DefenseThe 5-foot-11, 165-poundMcCann helped the Tomahawksto a <strong>13</strong>-7 record before losing toWestboro in a Central Mass. tournamentsemifinal. McCann was namedto the Central Mass. A All-Star teamand won the Kevin Mallett Awardfrom his school for leadership.McCann helped Algonquin to the2007 Central Mass. title, an accomplishmenthe rates as his most memorable sportsmoment. A three-year varsity starter for coach RichLuongo, McCann enjoys mountain boarding, playingguitar, going to Cape Cod, and playing soccer in hisspare time. An honor roll student at Algonquin,McCann will attend UMass in the fall and hopes to gointo business or possibly pursue a career in finance ormanagement after he graduates. McCann also hasplayed football for the past four seasons, and last yearwas given the Frank Kronoff Award for dedication andleadership. He’s the son of Bill and Linda McCann ofNorthboro.Phil MendesWestboro HighSenior, AttackThe first-ever three-time boys’lacrosse T&G Super Team selection,Mendes capped an incrediblehigh school career by helping theRangers to the Central Mass. titlewith a 7-6 overtime win overShrewsbury. Mendes was named tothe All-America team and is a threetimeCentral Mass. All-Star selection,finishing third in the CentralMass. A scoring race with 44 goals and 25 assists asWestboro won the league title. Mendes finished theseason with more than 63 goals and 80 points for theRangers. None were more important than his scoreon a pass from Kevin Shunney in overtime againstShrewsbury to give Westboro the Central Mass. title, awin he considers his most memorable sports moment.In his junior year, Mendes was named Westboro’soffensive MVP, and in his sophomore season, heearned Most Improved Player award. He’s the son of Joe and SheriMendes of Westboro.Colin O’RourkeSt. John’s HighJunior, AttackThe 6-foot, 175-pound O’Rourkemakes his second appearanceon the T&G boys’ lacrosse SuperTeam to go along with his appearanceon the Super Team for football.O’Rourke led the Central Mass.A League and earned All-Americastatus with 47 goals and 55 assists,and went on to break the schoolrecord for points in a season (119).O’Rourke is a three-time Central Mass. A LeagueAll-Star in lacrosse and was named co-defensive MVPfor Division 1 North in football last fall. He enjoysplaying sports and going to the beach in his sparetime. In 2004, O’Rourke was part of the <strong>Worcester</strong>Vikings Pop Warner squad that won the New Englandchampionship and played in the national tournamentin Orlando, Fla., which he considers his most memorablesports moment. He’s the son of David andPamela O’Rourke of <strong>Worcester</strong>.Mike PadroNorthbridge HighJunior, MidfieldPadro led the Central Mass. BLeague with 55 goals and 40assists, and helped the Rams to thequarterfinals of the Central Mass.Tournament. With his senior yearlooming, Padro has become one ofthe top athletes in the area, excellingin both lacrosse and football forNorthbridge. He has been gettingbetter each year in lacrosse, andafter recording a goal and two assists as a freshman,he was named to the Central Mass. B League secondteam with 30 goals and 24 assists before his breakoutseason this spring. The Rams’ captain fell one voteshy of being named an All-American, something hehopes to correct next season. Padro’s season wasfilled with school records — the junior set marks formost points in a season and career, most ground ballsin one game and a season, most assists in a game,season and career, and most points in a game. He’sthe son of Edna Quiles of Northbridge.Chandler RudertGrafton HighSenior, DefenseThe 6-foot, 185-pound Rudert ismaking his second appearanceon the T&G Super Team, and justwrapped up a strong high schoolcareer for the Indians. Rudert wasa two-year captain and a two-timeCentral Mass. C League All-Starselection for coach Bill Thornborough.Rudert helped Grafton to a16-6 record this year and a spot inthe Central Mass. quarterfinals, which he feels is hismost memorable sports moment. Last year Ruderthelped the Indians to their first postseason appearance,as Grafton finished <strong>13</strong>-4. Also a standoutfootball player for Grafton, Rudert enjoys skiing,boating and snowmobiling in his spare time. Anhonor roll student at Grafton, Rudert will playlacrosse for Clarkson University in the fall andhopes to obtain a degree in engineering. He’s theson of Jeff and Lynne Rudert of Grafton.Steve SullivanWestboro HighSenior, MidfieldSullivan helped the Rangers to theCentral Mass. title, puttingtogether an All-America season inwhich he tallied 26 goals and 29assists for Westboro. Sullivan is atwo-time Central Mass. A LeagueAll-Star and helped the Rangersfinish 17-3. Sullivan was an integralpart of Westboro teams that wonCentral Mass. titles in 2006 and<strong>2008</strong>, and those accomplishments — plus the firsteverleague title won by Westboro this season — arehis most memorable sports moments. A captain forthe Rangers, Sullivan scored three goals and had twoassists in a semifinal win over Algonquin. Sullivan alsois a standout soccer player for the Rangers and willattend James Madison University in the fall. Sullivanenjoys lifting weights and hanging out with friends inhis spare time. He’s the son of Bob and MaureenSullivan of Westboro.Mike VulcanoAlgonquin RegionalJunior, AttackThe 6-foot, 170-pound Vulcanohelped the Tomahawks to theCentral Mass. final by scoring 40goals and notching 20 assists, alsoearning a spot on the Central Mass.A League All-Star team. Vulcano hasquarterbacked the football team forthe past two years, and last yearwas named a team captain. Vulcanoenjoys snowboarding, going to thebeach, and hanging out with friends in his spare time.Only a junior, he hasn’t finalized any college plans buthopes to play football and lacrosse when he getsthere, as well as pursue a degree in communicationsand journalism. His sister, Lauren, was also a standoutlacrosse player for the Tomahawks, making theT&G Super Team in 2007. Vulcano helped Algonquinwin the Central Mass. title in 2007, a feat he considershis most memorable sports moment. He’s the sonof Michael and Michelle Vulcano of Northboro.Ryan ZenevitchSt. Peter-Marian HighSenior, DefenseThe 5-foot-9, 175-pound Zenevitchis a two-time T&G SuperTeam pick and helped the Guardiansto a 12-8 record before theylost to Westboro in the CentralMass. tournament quarterfinals.Zenevitch earned a spot on theCentral Mass. B League All-Starteam. A co-captain for coach VincentJacques, Zenevitch said histime playing a great sport with good friends is his mostmemorable sports moment. Ranked in the top 10percent in his class, Zenevitch is also a member of theYoung Neighbors in Action organization at St. Peter-Marian and frequently volunteers his free time. Hisfather, Mark, was a standout golfer at UMass, whilehis mother, Sharon, was a field hockey, basketballand softball star at St. Peter-Marian and Anna MariaCollege. Masseywill attend Salve Regina University and major in nursingwhile also extending her field hockey and lacrossecareers. Massey’s most memorable sports momentswere her home finales in both field hockey andlacrosse. She added <strong>13</strong> assists tolead the Central Mass. B Leaguewith 82 points. The 5-foot-8 starled coach Bob Betters’ squad toan 8-10-1 record and a runner-upfinish in the league. A <strong>Telegram</strong> &<strong>Gazette</strong> All-Star in lacrosse as a freshman, Maynardalso competes in cross country and basketball atSt. Peter-Marian. She enjoys playing all kinds ofsports in her spare time, and looks forward to theday the Guardians become CMass champs. Themost memorable sports moment in her youngcareer was leading St. Peter-Marian to the program’sfirst Central Mass. Tournament berth. She’sthe daughter of Donald and Tracy Maynard of Milford.Emily MongeauWestboro HighSenior, AttackMongeau is a three-time <strong>Telegram</strong>& <strong>Gazette</strong> All-Star, leadingcoach Colleen Debish’s Rangers toa 17-3-1 record and a Central Mass.championship. The 5-foot-8 captainhad 54 goals and 10 assists thisseason despite missing six weekswith a thumb injury. The school’scareer leader in goals, Mongeau isa three-sport star, also competing insoccer and basketball. She’s a three-time leagueall-star in soccer and lacrosse and once in basketball.The all-state soccer player will attend Southern NewHampshire University with a goal of becoming anelementary school teacher. Emily’s sister, Jennifer,was a lacrosse All-American at Assumption College in2004. Mongeau said her most memorable sportsmoment was beating Algonquin in the CMass final twoof the last three years. She’s the daughter of Peterand Patty Mongeau of Westboro.Meghan MulveyGrafton HighSenior, AttackThe 5-foot-4 senior was theleader of coach Barry Coonan’sIndians, helping them fashion a10-7-1 season and win a CentralMass. tournament berth. Mulvey isa four-year member of the lacrosseteam and was named captain andteam MVP this season. She finishedtied for third in the CentralMass. B League with 35 points(22 goals, <strong>13</strong> assists). Mulvey was also a memberof the Grafton cross country, soccer and indoortrack teams. In her spare time, she likes to snowboardand run. In her spare time, she enjoys playingfield hockey and lacrosse and hanging out withfriends. Tinsley’s goal for the Colonials is to win thestate title. She also plays club lacrosse for theRevolution with sister Alicia. Her most memorablesports moment was being able to play lacrosse withAlicia for the past two years. The 5-foot-10captain has been a three-year memberof coach Becky Moisan’s squad,scoring 62 goals this season andbeing named a Central Mass. ALeague All-Star all three years. Shewill attend Merrimack College and will play lacrossethere. Tinsley also captained the Shrewsbury volleyballteam and earned the Dedication & ExcellenceAward. She enjoys going to the beach and hangingwith friends in her spare time. Her most memorablesports moment was playing in the Senior Game withall the teammates she has been playing lacrosse withsince fifth grade. She’s the daughterof Mark and Diane Toomy of Northboro.Jenna SrebnikWestboro HighSenior, Attack-MidfieldSrebnik, who started the season atattack and eventually moved tocenter midfield, was a key force inWestboro’s Central Mass. championshiprun. Srebnik combinedwith teammate and fellow SuperTeamer Emily Mongeau for 12second-half goals as the Rangersdefeated Algonquin Regional, 17-9,for the CMass title. Srebnik,coached by Colleen Debish, netted five goals in thefinal. The Rangers finished the season with a 17-3-1record. Srebnik’s brother, Matt, was also a standoutathlete at Westboro and currently plays club lacrosseat the University of New Hampshire. Her father, Bob,played football and lacrosse at the University of Buffalo.Srebnik will attend Penn State University. She isthe daughter of Maria and Bob Srebnik of Westboro.Sarah ValacerNorth Middlesex RegionalSenior, DefenseThe 5-foot-7 captain was a stalwarton the back line for coachMargaret Nickless’ Patriots. Valacerled North Middlesex to a CentralMass. tournament berth and an11-7-1 overall record. She wasselected to the Central Mass. ALeague All-Star team. Valacer wasalso a member of the soccer andbasketball teams at North Middlesex,and served as a captain of each this year. Sheenjoys helping out at youth league camps for soccer,basketball and lacrosse. She will attend Keene Statein the fall and major in elementary education. She listsa lacrosse league championship in 2006 and being aCentral Mass. semifinalist in 2007 and <strong>2008</strong> as hermost memorable sports moments. She’s the daughterof Charlie and Ann Valacer of Townsend.Kayla VolpeWestboro HighJunior, AttackVolpe was a key cog in the Rangers’march to the Central Mass.title, scoring 31 goals and dishingout 10 assists. A three-year memberof coach Colleen Debish’s Rangers,the 5-foot-6 junior scored four goalsand had two assists in a CentralMass. semifinal win over NorthMiddlesex Regional. Volpe also hasbeen a member of the Westborovolleyball team for three years, a group that won thestate championship in 2007, which she considers hermost memorable sports moment. She was namedvolleyball captain for her senior year. In her free time,Volpe enjoys tennis, lacrosse and volleyball. She willbe looking to go into nursing when she makes hercollege choice next year. Lastyear Carlson went 28-2 at No. 2 singles forthe Mountaineers. Carlson’s sister, Katie,made the T&G Super Team in the winter forswimming. He’s the son of Kathleen Sweeneyand Ed Carlson of Princeton.St. John’s HighSenior, DoublesPlaying with partner PatDumas, Centolareached the doublesfinal of the Central Mass.individual tournamentbefore falling to Westboro’sJason Lemackand Josh Hurwitz, 6-1,6-4. In his junior year,Cournoyer won the team MVP award andthis year he earned the Coach’s Award.He enjoys ping-pong and shopping oneBay in his spare time. Cournoyer willplay tennis for Bryant University in the falland will pursue a degree in finance. Championshipsin 10.90 secondsto take first place.He followed that up withanother first-place effortat the All-State meet in atime of 10.93 at DurfeeHigh. Ruffing, also an indoor T&G SuperTeam pick, holds the school record in the100 and 200. As a senior in winter track,he won the 300-meter state championshipand finished third at the New Englands.Ruffing was a captain of the soccer team asa senior, and was a T&G Division 1 All-Starand a Mid-Wach B All-Star. DeCarteret alsocompetes in the long jump, high jump, 100,200 and 400. She was the team captainand MVP of the Warriors’ indoor and outdoortrack and field teams this year. DeCarteretis ranked first in her class and playsthe saxophone. She is a mentor at thePatriot Pole Vault Club. Jones was namedthe Gatorade Massachusetts Girls’ Trackand Field Athlete of the Year. She helpedBromfield to its fourth straight Central Mass.title. During the indoor season, Jones ranthe fastest 2 mile in the country (10:31.82)at the Division 4 state championships. Shealso had first-place finishes at the all-stateand New England meets. Jones was theGatorade Massachusetts Cross CountryRunner of the Year in 2007. Krumpoch isalso a member of the indoor track team andfinished 12th in the state in the 300 lastwinter. She also competed in the high jumpand on the 800-meter relay team. She won theevent last year in58.14. Leahy finishedsecond in this year’sstate meet with a timeof 57.88 seconds. She was coming off asolid winter season in which she finishedthird in the 300 at the Division 1 statemeet, and was part of the Mountaineers’second-place 1,600-meter relay team. InFebruary, she broke the Wachusett recordin the 300. Coach Lucy Banks calledLeahy “a superior athlete.” Leahy alsoplays soccer for the Mountaineers. She’sthe daughter of Chuck and Jayne Leahyof Sterling.Kirsten OrrellMillbury HighJunior, Shot PutOrrell is a two-timestate shot put championand a schoolrecord-holder in theevent. She joins hercousin, Shepherd HillRegional’s Liz Brooks,on this year’s SuperTeam. Orrell captainedthe Woolies’ team thisspring, and also holds the school record inthe discus. She won the Central Mass. titlewith a throw of 38 feet and improved herdistance to 41-9 in the state meet. Orrellruns cross country in the fall, and helpedMillbury to the Central Mass. Division 2 titleand a state semifinal appearance in girls’basketball last winter. She was a Southern<strong>Worcester</strong> County League All-Star in basketballand outdoor track this year. Hergoals for next season include breakingmore records and winning the NewEnglands. She’s the daughter of Gary andPhyllis Orrell of Millbury.Angie StakusNipmuc RegionalSenior, 100 HurdlesStakus repeated asCentral Mass. championin the 100 hurdles,and followed that up witha fourth-place finish at thestate meet and a16th-place showing at theNew Englands. She listsqualifying for the NewEnglands as her mostmemorable sports moment. Stakus holdsschool records in the 100 hurdles, 300hurdles, and high jump. She was namedher team’s MVP and Dual Valley ConferenceMVP in the 100 hurdles and 300hurdles. This is the second Super Teamselection for Stakus in outdoor track. Shealso earned the honor for indoor track lastwinter. Stakus will attend the University ofMaine in the fall and is planning a career inwildlife ecology. She’s the daughter ofCharlie and Cindy Stakus of Mendon.Laura SternLunenburg HighSenior, JavelinStern finished up anoutstanding careerwith another great outdoorseason. She capturedher fourth straightstate javelin title with athrow of 149 feet, 8inches. She set a CentralMass. Championshipsrecord with a tossof 144-4, smashing the previous mark of<strong>13</strong>9-6 set in 1979. She finished secondat the New Englands after winning theNew England title last year and setting ameet record. Stern also played soccerand basketball at Lunenburg and was aMid-Wach C All-Star in both. She enjoysreading and coaching younger athletes.Stern will attend the University of NewHampshire, and hopes to become a physicaltherapist. She’s the daughter of Stevenand Patricia Stern of Lunenburg.Ali TyburskiShepherd Hill RegionalSophomore, MileTyburski won the mile atthe Central Mass. Championshipsafter an excellentseason in which she set aschool record in the event.Her time of 5:07 smashedthe previous Shepherd Hillrecord of 5:17, which stoodfor 22 years. Tyburski alsoset a Southern <strong>Worcester</strong>County League record in the 800 meters. Shewon the mile and the 800 at the SWCL championships.Tyburski was a Super Team honoreefor cross country last fall after finishing secondin the Central Mass. Division 1 meet. During thecross country season, she broke the ShepherdHill course record by 42 seconds, an accomplishmentshe lists among her most memorablesports moments. Her father, George, was aWestern Mass. track champion at Palmer High.Her grandfather, Bobby Curran, played for the1947 Holy Cross national championship basketballteam.
