Volunteerby Junko Nomura<strong>Park</strong> Services SpecialistBob Frasier (with an “s”)is sometimes mistaken for oneof our tram drivers, Bob Frazier(with a “z”). But Bob Frasier hasbeen a school tour-guide for K-2since September, 2002. He interpretsour <strong>Park</strong>’s natural habitatsto small children with a calm delivery,yet loud enough to draw theirattention. He also has a gentleA Busload of Fun!Sp OtlightBob Frasiersmile and a patient manner. Childrenseem to be put at ease when listeningto his voice.Bob and his wife, Joan, movedto Florida in 2002. Bob’s entire careerwas at Bayer Corporation, andhis last position was Vice President,responsible for North American marketingof the plastics business. Theyhave 6 grandchildren, the oldest beingonly 5 years old.Bob tells me, “I likesmall children. I want to knowwhat they are interested in.That helps me to understandour own grandchildren.” Heloves his work, the <strong>Park</strong>, andpeople as well.Thank you, Bob, for allyou do for the <strong>Park</strong>!January’srainy, coldweatherd i d n ’ tpreventtwentyfiveintrepidvolunteers from enjoyingtheir bus trip north to the SavannasPreserve <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong> in Jensen<strong>Beach</strong>, Fort Pierce Inlet <strong>State</strong> <strong>Park</strong>,the SEAL museum and the ManateeObservation and Education Center.It was a full day complete with aluncheon picnic, marsh views, sandhillcrane and manatee sightings, fascinatinginformation about the Navy SEALsand lots of camaraderie. The trip waspunctuated by good jokes told by theirSwedish bus driver.Long standing volunteer, MarvinGreenburg, said of the trip,“This has been a pleasant reunion—achance to reacquaintmyself with ‘old’ volunteers andmeet the new ones. We are reallylike a family. I feel good about<strong>MacArthur</strong> <strong>Beach</strong> and the progressit is making.
