32<strong>Cutthroat</strong> smolt survivals are about 40 % higher than steelhead (Giger 1972). Steelheadaveraged 16 % during an early ocean regime, but only 3-7% during the current oceanregime shift (Ward and Slaney 1988). <strong>Cutthroat</strong> kelt survivals to successive spawningranged from a low <strong>of</strong> 5 % to a high <strong>of</strong> 40 % in a study by Giger (1972).
