There is a realsupport system, where our students get nurturingand attention. We offer all the tools for success as afuture educator.Is there a club for education majors?Our student-run and faculty-supported FutureEducators Club is very active on and off campus. Theclub works to cover school expenses for kids in Peruand in the area. We also get together for pre-vespersto eat, sing and share, or even plan trips to the coast.Do you help us find teaching jobs?Our faculty is well connected locally and withAdventist schools around the nation. We get calls allthe time from colleagues and former students lookingfor new candidates. Each year, our “Placement Book”gets sent across the nation to let schools knowwho’s graduating. Our graduates consistently get thejobs they want. Some teach English at internationalschools for a year or two, in places like Taiwan,Thailand and Japan.Does faith tie into the educationprogram?Spirituality is part ofeverything we do, so weincorporate it as muchas possible into our curriculum.I love that thestudents we get expectthat spirituality will bea part of their classroom experience. We hope thatour program will help them achieve personal spiritualgrowth, which they can incorporate into their careersand the lives of our young people.What’s a favorite teaching moment?It’s when a class is fully involved in the topic andasking tons of questions. I also love it when studentstell personal stories about how they chose teachingas a career.
