However, theadvocacy of environmental awareness has remained just a statement in manylocal companies’ profiles. As environmental awareness increasingly becomes the core social responsibilityof many Saudi companies, one firm in Al-Khobar that is seriously seeking thesupport of its employees in observing the national environmental awarenessprogram is Rawabi Holding, whose 14 companies are mostly involved in servicingthe requirements of the country’s oil and other energy sectors.“As a firm believer in the importance of partnership with the government tocontribute to the quality of life in our country, our company’s corporate socialresponsibility initiatives will now focus on environmental awareness and protectionprograms,” said Abdulaziz Al-Turki, the company’s group chairman.Al-Turki announced his company’s environmental protection drive last weekendduring the event that honored 41 top employees of the company who havecontributed to the success of the group. The theme of the awarding event wascentered on “green environment and nature,” including the green color printing ofthe event’s program.Al-Turki has established four activities in pursuing his group’s environmentalawareness and protection program. He said the companies under the group willhenceforth start recycling all office waste, starting with paper, plastics andaluminum; keep abreast of international environmental issues, such as pollutionand global warming, and disseminate them to other companies andestablishments; use email to circulate tips on environmentally friendly practices;and launch annual region-wide beach cleaning campaigns starting this summer.“We are committing our multinational employees to our advocacy ofenvironmental protection in this country; we are also committed to encouragingSaudi youth to take the initiative in protecting and safeguarding our environment,”Al-Turki said. – SGOTHER NEWS FROM NATIONKing receives Dick CheneyNo plans for airport in Makkah: EmirSaudia gets two more private HawkerplanesCall for effective water conservationstrategyDar Al-Hekma goes greenBad weather forces ferry to returnKUNA official lauds cooperation withSPAThief repents, seeks apologyVaccination team held hostage byman in painUniversity of Karachi admissions openPrint this Article Post Your Comments Email this Article Contact Us To TopPost your CommentsNameEmailTitleComments*No of Characters leftPlease enter the digits that appear in the imagehttp://saudigazette.com.sa/index.cfm?method=home.regcon&contentID=2010050371207[6/22/2010 9:20:32 AM]
