It may be thecase, <strong>for</strong> example, that the developer could be <strong>in</strong> a position toprovide some resources other than f<strong>in</strong>ancial to f<strong>in</strong>ish out theestate, such as labour and mach<strong>in</strong>ery.Q.5 Who You Can Contact For In<strong>for</strong>mation?You have a right to meet with and have direct communicationwith the local authority and with the developer/builder.There is an obligation on local authorities, developers/builders toensure that residents are directly and centrally <strong>in</strong>volved whereverpossible <strong>in</strong> resolv<strong>in</strong>g these developments.Local Authority InvolvementEach local authority has a member of staff deal<strong>in</strong>g withunf<strong>in</strong>ished hous<strong>in</strong>g estates, their contact details can be foundon www.hous<strong>in</strong>g.ie/unf<strong>in</strong>ished. You could <strong>in</strong>vite this contactperson to visit your estate and do a walk-through with membersof the residents’ committee.Your local authority contact <strong>for</strong> Unf<strong>in</strong>ished Hous<strong>in</strong>g can provideyou with:• <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation on the Category of your development referredto earlier <strong>in</strong> this guide (1-4, with 4 be<strong>in</strong>g the worst affected);• any progress to date <strong>in</strong> resolv<strong>in</strong>g issues (<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g anyallocation of funds under the Public Safety Initiative);• <strong>in</strong><strong>for</strong>mation on the status of bonds/securities and anyen<strong>for</strong>cement or other legal action that has been taken todate or that may be likely to be taken; and• contacts of other key stakeholders engaged <strong>in</strong> the process.Developer/Builder/ReceiverWrite a letter or email to the developer and/or the receiver, if onehas been appo<strong>in</strong>ted (if you cannot get <strong>in</strong> touch with that person,contact the estate agent, who may be able to provide you withthe relevant contact details). Outl<strong>in</strong>e that your communicationis on behalf of the residents’ committee. List all the priorityissues and how you would like to work together to come to asolution.
