He was alsoinvolved in a number of European andlocal enterprise development andeducatioanl programmes and onretirement in a number ofInternational Fund for Irelandprogrammes in<strong>to</strong> Canada introducingemployment and personaldevelopment <strong>to</strong> young people fromdisadvantaged areas North and Southof the border.Introduced <strong>to</strong> Masonry at theage of 21 on joining his father’sLodge Amon 613 he subsequentlyintroduced him <strong>to</strong> Amon RAC 613(Lodge and Chapter sat inRosemary Street at that time nowsit at Arthur Square.) He served asAssistant Treasurer, Treasurer andnow District Assistant GK inAntrim. Is a Past Supreme GrandHigh Priest and is Past Rep forQueensland at SGRAC.Regarding otside interests Tomwas on the Board of Trustees ofAction Cancer, was a member RUCReserve for 10 years, was a keenRock Climber and climbed all overthe British Isles and Europe. In hisyounger years he participated in awide range of outdoor activitiesfrom scuba diving <strong>to</strong> hang glidingand from potholing <strong>to</strong> canoeing.Although his activities in the Hillsare now restricted <strong>to</strong> walking inrecent times he did traverse theCamino del Rey at El Chorro inSpain. Althought describing himselfas not a sailor he sailed from Bilbo<strong>to</strong> Lagos in Portugal and as recentlyas 2010 sailed around Iceland in<strong>to</strong>the Arctic Circle via Rockall and theNorth Atlantic.
