M.E. COMP. REGINALD (REG) MAGUIREReg was born in Newry andwas the fourth child ofWilliam George and DoraMaguire. On leaving school hejoined the Irish Guards at the age of16 and this formative time of his lifein the Irish Guards was somethingwhich he carried with him for therest of his days. You never saw Regslouch, he always walked ramrodstraight as if he was doing guardduty at Buckingham Palace and hisshoes were always bulled up <strong>to</strong>parade ground standards.On leaving the Irish Guards, hejoined the RUC on 1st August1958 and did his training at thedepot in Enniskillen. During histime in Enniskillen he met a younglady called Ena Barr. Reg and Enamarried on 19th Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 1960.Their marriage was blessed withtwo sons, Richard and Derrick.Serving initially in Derrylin inFermanagh he then was transferredM.E. COMP. MERVYNWALLACE MORRISONLate of the Kilraughts Roadarea of Ballymoney, passedaway on May 23. Husband ofLettie, father of Shona, Peter and thelate Graeme, dear father-in-law ofJim and proud grandfather of Jennyand Katy. The Funeral Service <strong>to</strong>okplace on Saturday (May 26) at 12noon in St. James’s PresbyterianChurch, Ballymoney. Intermentfollowed in Mosside PresbyterianChurchyard. Mervyn was a memberof Chatam Hall 152 and Chapter 57,R.E. Comp. Mervyn W. Morrisonalso Deputy Great Chief of TheGrand Council of Knight Masonswas invested as Honorary PastGrand Chief Scribe of the DistrictGrand Chapter of Antrim. Mervynwas a past MWS of DunluceChapter No. 26 and a 31° Mason.He was a M.E. Great Chief of TheGrand Council of Knight Masons2001-2008.<strong>to</strong> Rosemount in Londonderry.On leaving the RUC, he and thefamily moved <strong>to</strong> Antrim and he<strong>to</strong>ok up employment in Enkalonwhere he worked as a foreman.He also developed his links withBaird’s undertakers where heworked for 30 years.One of the most importantaspects of Reg’s life was hisparticipation in Freemasonry. He wasa member of Langford MasonicLodge 616, Crumlin Royal ArchChapter No. 140. In Knight Masonryhe was a member of Steeple CouncilNo. 5 Antrim, and No. 69 Maralin, alsothe Temple<strong>to</strong>n Precep<strong>to</strong>ry of HighKnight Templars and BallymenaChapter of Prince Masons No. 19.He was also affiliated <strong>to</strong> ParkgateMasonic Lodge No. 776 where heregularly attended. Reg was a PastDistrict Grand Steward in theDistrict Grand Chapter of Antrimand a Representative <strong>to</strong> the GrandChapter of Iceland at the SupremeGrand Royal Arch Chapter of Ireland.Reg <strong>to</strong>ok his various rolesseriously, he was a loyal supporter ofall District Grand Chapter of Antrimevents, such as the bi-annual visits <strong>to</strong>Argyll and the Isles, attending theannual District dinner dances andMasonic Charity Church Services,you could always be assured of thesupport of Reg and Ena. His namewas usually one of the first for a sea<strong>to</strong>n the bus <strong>to</strong> Supreme Grand RoyalArch Chapter of Ireland in Dublin orelsewhere.Those who were membersalong with him, will recall hisattention <strong>to</strong> detail and meticuloustaking of minutes. Nothing wasever left <strong>to</strong> chance and nothing was<strong>to</strong>o much trouble for him. He gotgreat satisfaction as he progressedwithin Masonry and gave devotedservice <strong>to</strong> the Masonic Order and<strong>to</strong> its members and their families.During his illness, when he and Enawere in need, his friends and fellowmembers rallied round.Reg’s death will leave a huge gapin the Masonic family and in so manyother different areas. Our thoughtsand prayers go out <strong>to</strong> Ena, Richard,Derrick and all the Maguire family.We give thanks <strong>to</strong> the SupremeKing of Heaven and Earth for all thatwe have gained in knowing RegMaguire, in loving him, but most ofall, in being loved by him. His funeralservice was held in All Saints ParishChurch, Antrim, on Wednesday 12thDecember at 2.00 p.m. The churchwas filled <strong>to</strong> overflowing.Afterwards Reg. was laid <strong>to</strong> rest inAntrim Cemetery.V.E. COMP. HUBERT GINGLESJanuary 12, 2012, peacefully, at Royal Vic<strong>to</strong>ria Hospital, father of Jenny,Michael and the late Alan. Service of Thanksgiving was held in The OldPresbyterian Church of Larne and Kilwaughter, Meetinghouse Street,Larne on Monday 17th January at 2.30 p.m. Hubert was a member ofDuncairn Masonic Lodge No. 545, and Glenarm RAC No. 45 and a DistrictGrand Steward in 2011.The Banner9
