- a certain external morphological aspect, according to biological and economicconsiderations;- increased precocity and prolificity;- resistance to diseases and unfavorableenvironment factors. In practice, these objectives are reflected in thetransformation of some characters ofindividuals belonging to the population withwhich the work is done. Also, at fish, they can be considered domesticanimals, whose genetic evolution is under longhuman intervention, and that any negligence ormistake in the management of the genetic fund, may have most serious consequences, until thedisappearance of some races or localpopulations [2].MATERIAL AND METHODIn our country, the carp, which as a wildspecies was, decades ago, the basic fisheryproduction in the lower Danube basin, was, isand it will remain, at least as goal, the main fishspecies in Romania, regardless the economiccircumstances. The studied biological material consisted of 50offspring of Ineu carp (Photo 1), whichbelonged from five mothers and ten fathers. Each descendant has been measured for threecharacters: body weight (W), maximum bodyheight (H) and body length (l), at the end of thefirst three summers of growth. The body weight (W) has been determined byweighing with a scale for small weights. The maximum body height (H) has beenmeasured in the highest region of the body, atthe level of the first radiating from the dorsalfin, with the help of a graduated ruler. The body length (l) has been measured on themidline of the body, from the top scaly snout tothe end cover to the caudal fin, with the help ofa graduated ruler.Photo 1. Ineu carp breed (Source: S.C.P. Nucet)For the analysis of the variance components theBLUP (Best Linear Unbiased Prediction)methodology has been used, being applied to anindividual animal model.RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONSKnowing the level of quantitative hereditarytransmission of characters from parents tooffspring is one of the important problems oftheir heredity study [3].To highlight the genetic determinism ofquantitative characters, subject to geneticimprovement programs to breed the Ineu carpusing heritability.Heritability expresses the proportion ofphenotypic manifestation of a character that canbe attributed to environmental effects of genesinvolved in that genotype [1].Table 1. This means that theaverage effect of genes from the genotype isresponsible for more than 20% of thephenotypic manifestation of the analyzedcharacters.313
